Mexican clubs almost always draw well here - the crowd mostly was not there for the Fire.

I was surprised Toluca drew 16,000. I didn't consider that Fire fans would show up too . ;)

18,896 watched Whitecaps beat Xolos 3-1. I haven't checked myself but apparently it is only the second sub 20k attendance of the season. The other one was a Voyageurs Cup match with Cavalry FC.

Better than 13 MLS regular season attendances in 2023.

25,174 at dignity health for chivas and it was announced a sellout, meaning that, as suspected, capacity slightly decreased this season.

All below MLS average... So would MLS just make more money by playing more regular season games?

The financial benefit of Leagues Cup is determined by what they make from the tournament as a whole, not the ticket gate from three cherry-picked games.

What do Houston and SKC average on a Monday night?

Skc probably 18k. Houston would probably have some friends and family of the players at the stadium.

SKC got 16k against RSL in their last midweek match.

If attendance was the only important metric they wouldn't have played the games on a Monday.

I actually think these later MLS - MLS matchup attendances are pretty good considering from what I've seen season ticket packages only included the first game of the group stage (so they can't count them as "attendants"); that means there's at least 13k hardcore Revolution fans crazy enough to pay to watch two middling teams on a random Tuesday night.

In 2015 New England hosted the Red Bulls in midweek with both vying for the Eastern Conference title. Attendance 10,997.

13,858 for an all MLS non-MLS match up on a Tuesday night with nothing really to play for isn't bad.

MLS partners with Michelob Ultra as a main sponsor for the season and playoffs. Leagues Cup official sponsor is Coors Light. Fact is Leagues Cup has significant multi year partnerships with over a dozen sponsors which is an increase from year one. So if this was an MLS game they would get the entire gate but none of the new revenue streams created by this tournament.
    .
So what do you think an official sponsor of Leagues Cup cost? My guess is anywhere between one and five million depending on how much they get featured in stadium and on broadcast. That's possibly 20-50 million in revenue that MLS shares with Liga MX. Count in the gate and concessions what are you looking at here for new revenue?

MLS - benches created by Home Depot
Leagues Cup - power assistance by Lowes

Arthur Blank buys a franchise. Home Depot becomes a major sponsor. Lowes sees an opportunity to go after the same market. SKC attract 4,000 below average but MLS makes money.

I believe the Revs included the Nashville game last night in the Season Ticket package. Subsequent rounds are not included, but people need to opt out, or they will be charged for their tickets.

To be fair, 2015 is a lifetime ago in MLS. Much has changed since then.

20k+ at weekends, mid-teens during the week with some bumper crowds at end of the season and last season against a very weakened Miami. Pretty much the same pattern.
