Nico, I'm all for having a conversation with anyone that's informed about a subject. That being said you have already admitted you don't watch nor like Leagues Cup. There is no glory in a third place game unless there is a prize. For Monterrey they already had a prize so they played the kids. . Personally you sound like a passionate fan that would be fun to engage with about soccer but you refuse to watch Leagues Cup for what ever reasons and I don't care what they are. Now you remind me of the friend who broke up with his girl thinking she'll come crawling back to him but she moved on to a better guy and all you do now is whine he's no good for her and you make fun of him to all your friends..... Yet they're tired of hearing it because you were the one that walked away. I'll be happy to talk to you in the CCC thread after you heal from the thought of the rest of us enjoying Leagues Cup.
Leagues Cup glory. Or simply soccer glory. I was listening to talkSport the other day and the topic was how even friendlies these days are played in a more competitive manner than years past, and how anytime a big club plays in one of these it’s a big deal to the other team to go for the win. Point being there is real effort (and sometimes injury) in pretty much any game even though some competitions will always be viewed as more important. I don’t get the extreme disdain, at some point it just becomes soccer fans raging against soccer. Which is not surprising, I’ve followed a bunch of sports and athletic activities, overall I’ve found soccer draws the lowest lows of fan behavior.
Dumping the third place game should be the first and easiest thing to modify in Leagues Cup. Even for people who love Leagues Cup, I can't imagine anybody wanting to play a Leagues Cup third place game. Give the CCC slot to the CCC champion.
Djordje Mihailovic is already back in Colorado and available for selection tomorrow. I can't imagine after the Olympic tournament that he would start but might be a spark off the bench if needed and I'm sure they'll save a sub for him if it looks like its going to PKs (as in that case PKs will decide who advances).
I can’t keep up with any of the corporate names, except Dicks; but that is the original, and, so far only, name, so that helps.
People are confused. They're asking how Santos Laguna can be above Atlanta. Why can't LC follow standard international tie break rules? Santos Laguna advance Laguna W 0 D 1 L 0 GF 3 GD -3 Pts 2 Atlanta W 0 D 2 L 0 GF 3 GD 0 Pts 2
Its not that confusing or unusual that head-to-head is the 1rt tiebreaker over GD in the case of a two-way tie.
I don't think I remember seeing it in soccer before. In the World Cup for instance it's GS, GD then head to head. It's also unique in that SL had one draw and one defeat and got the same number of points as a team that drew two games. But I knew about that one.
I honestly don't know what happened to Atlanta. And worst of all the FO doesn't seem to care either. They went from being a model MLS team to the San Jose Earthquakes of the East fighting tooth and nail with Chicago for that honor. And also......Monterrey fires their coach for the performance of Leagues Cup. I've said that there are Liga MX teams that always aim to win and Monterrey is one of them. Saying they aren't taking it seriously or don't care is not knowing the philosophy of some of those Liga MX teams. After all the money they spent it's no wonder they set the bar high. Just wish Atlanta was like that.
FOX broadcaster just welcomed us to Philadelphia. Don’t think Tony and him are actually in Philadelphia, or Chester.
