I don’t know what we did to make it so that we never, ever catch a break on VAR, but holy god, how was that a clear and obvious error on the penalty in our favor that they overturned? The NYC defender’s hand was flapping out from his body, and the ball hit his hand. We’ve seen that called roughly a billion times (often against us).

I hate to be this guy, but there is zero chance that gets overturned if it’s a penalty for Atlanta at MBS, or for LAFC at the Banc.

Such a journeyman lineup the Revs threw out there. Would a single one of those guys start for another MLS team? Arreaga, maybe.

Under the circumstances, they played at least respectably. And since they now have a month's layoff, maybe we'll see a whole new team on the restart.

I agree with the sentiment but there next game is only 2 weeks away so basically just a bye week.

As long as Montreal doesn't make the final, yes, we still play the 24th.

Montreal got bounced by Philly Friday night (Baribo brace in stoppage time, one first half, one second half), so the Revs are safe there.

Typical Revs game, not much in the way of offense (6 shots, 3 on goal). I don't remember the two saves Freese had to make, but I don't think they were much of a challenge (unlike Ivacic, who had to make a few difficult saves).

Hopefully they can generate more goals when Gil, Borrero, Vrioni and Langoni are able to play.

But with only 11 games left (7 of them on the road), it may be too little, too late.

I remember looking up at the stats at halftime, and the shots were 6-5 NYCFC. The second half was a complete domination.

One other random observation from this game: Miller has shown his prowess on the ball, but this was the first time (in my view anyway) that I've seen his defensive skills stand out.

If you're no longer paying attention, Mazatlan, the one team we beat in the Leagues Cup has made the quarterfinals. They beat DC in the Round of 32, and then won on PKs v Cruz Azul.

Every Round of 16 game had at least 3 total goals scored, with 4 of the games being won by teams that scored 4 goals.

The quarter finals have 6 MLS teams and only 2 Liga MX (Club America is the second).

We are not there because we lost in kicks, which is basically a coin flip.

We lost because we're not that good at this point. You can blame PKs, but we can't score more than a goal on game and we can't keep a clean sheet. That's not going to give too many chances to win.

That, and VAR hates us (gave them a PK, took one away from us). ;)

I blame Bobby Wood, who managed to blow a tap-in (possibly because he was distracted wondering whether we’re allowed to score more than once in a game).

Right, there is leaked audio between the ref and the VR attendee.

Ref: Not sure what you want me to look at here. Clear PK.

VR attendee: But it's the Revs. They have not been awarded a PK all season there MUST be something wrong here.

Ref: Good point, my gut says 'no PK'

DeJuan Jones scores the deciding PK in CMB's shootout win over NYC, while Kei Kamara scores the final goal in LAFC's 3-0 win over Seattle. <sigh>

Only MLS teams remaining, Club America was upset by Colorado (scoreless game, 9-8 in PKs).

Zack Steffen had one PK go off the post, off his back and in to keep America alive, but it came down to the goalie round, and Steffen made his shot, while America's keeper missed wide.

No. He didn't play the first game against Mazatlan and wasn't even on the bench.

In 5+ years, DeJuan Jones won just one trophy with the Revs. In less than one month, he's already matched that winning the Leagues Cup with Crew.
