Here we go RSL fans! We Are Real, Somos Real. don't forget. We will probably chanting We Are Real-ly cold to start the game instead. I think the weather should definitely play in to RSL's favor but it is LAFC and they not only have our number they have ALL of our numbers. They have just plain kicked our ass of late and always. Going to be watching to see how RSL starts this game. They have been trending in a positive direction with each half of play in the first two games. Really expecting Crooks to have a big impact on the game and really hoping to see how he can gel with Luna, Gomez, Chicho and everyone else in the attack. Defensively this is a big test and I still believe that the back line for us can be sketchy and LAFC and Bouanga is a beast. I see this being a really good game again and maybe a 3-2, 4-3, type of final score. Hopefully it's RSL getting the 3 points.
I get the idea about doing these in the middle of the day during winter in the colder climates. It also spreads out the games for people who want to watch complete games live. Can be a bummer for the home fans though.
https://www.rsl.com/news/crooks-tac...fortress-3-storylines-to-watch-when-rsl-take- I'm appreciating the level of communication from the club in things like this.
From the crackpot contingent: I think a noon start to the game in early March makes all kinds of sense. Better 50° in the rain at game time than 35-ish° in the evening while it's snowing. Every time the U of U football games in November are forced to start at 8:00 at night when the weather was beautiful at noon earlier in the day, I thank my lucky stars I'm watching from home.
Thanks for posting the link. That’s an informative piece relating the attack that scored to what Pablo is trying to accomplish. The Ruiz data that he embedded was also excellent.
LAFC only has 21 players on their roster at this point. RSL has 32. Not counting the injured Bonilla. RSL has the 4th youngest roster in MLS, at 23.7. That's it. Just find it interesting.
The weather forecast today is for worse weather than in yesterday’s forecast. Plus lightning is now a possibility, meaning there could be a delay. So I’m going to skip this one. I’m also going to skip the Dune 2 IMAX that I was going to attend after the game.
I'm going to bundle up and go to this game. I will tell myself how much of a better club supporter I am than all of you who couldn't bother yourselves to go and put yourselves through some discomfort to support the boys. 15 minutes in, I'll reaffirm to myself that I made the right choice. I'll think of all of you at home and scoff while looking around at empty seats. In the 30th minute, the wind will gust and the pouring cold rain will taunt me as it finds a crease in the neck of my jacket and slides down my back. But I will spin the weathers mockery around 180°and push it back at all of you "supporters" at home nice and warmly snug, hugging your space heaters while chanting quietly for the squad. Near the half, the score will be 0-2 for LAFC and my first doubt will creep in. In first half stoppage, another ball slaps the back of the net and its 0-3 for the away side just in time for the sleet to kick in. The whistle will pierce the frigid air and the half will commence. I'll pretend that I plan on staying, even though my belly is telling me otherwise and my fingers are now more like ice cycles. I'll walk like Edward Scissorhands to the bathroom and run the tap on my frozen fingers. I'll look in the mirror and see my pride. That's when I'll realize my folly and slink out of the gates hoping nobody sees me while I shrink home as quickly as possible to find my space heater jeering at me with a slight smile of warm welcome. I'll think about telling you all about it, then I'll quickly reconsider and delete my half -written post.
If you leave in time you could use RSLer's ticket to see Dune. I'd skip the Dune themed popcorn bucket...
The Dune tickets are at a theater in South Jordan. It’s about an 80 mile round trip for me. I don’t want to drive it in snow. If I lived in Salt Lake County I would go to the game and skip the movie.
If we are mark'd to [freeze], we are enow To do our [club] loss; and if to live, The fewer men, the greater share of honour. ... From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be rememberèd— We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that [loses a toe to frostbite] with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in [Midvale] now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
On the other hand, our typically inaccurate crosses into the box might be blown to one of our attackers. Also, this might be a Gomez game. He doesn’t pass, so the wind won’t impact his style. He usually can’t shoot the ball on frame, so maybe the wind will help him out.
