The GK situation must be GD frustrating for Poch. No one in the Premier League needed a keeper and no one outside would pay Turner's wages. Now he's stuck on the bench at Palace. #career-ruined
If Poch is true to his words, he will use in form players. As for Turner. He needs to take a pay cut and move to the Championship or go on loan elsewhere. PS: We use to have keepers that start their entire career in the EPL. Good old days.
I really, really wonder how this is going to play out. Biggest surprises so far? McKennie being left on the bench for and Busio has to be #1. Maybe he just wasn't bringing the intensity. Maybe Poch is sending a signal. We'll see. I"m mildly surprised to see Turner retain his starting spot, and to see Ream not only retain his, but to get the armband as well. I'm not surprised to see Sargent or Aaronson in the lineup, however, particularly given the injuries.
My only comment is that a Morris 6 needs help getting the ball out of the back and I don't think Musah is that guy. Now I'll sit back and be very happy to be proven wrong.
Performative atmosphere isn't atmosphere. I didn't say anything for years as MLS was growing, and whatever's going to attract more of a crowd but... Time to grow up and get real.
Maybe McKennie had a knock, who knows? Ream is past his sell-by date. I guess Poch wants to honor what came before. He needs to "imagine what can be, unburdened by what has been."
This is hilarious Impressive Poch already knows the way to get the most out of McKennie is to try to leave him out of the project— watke (@watke_) October 13, 2024
Musah is pretty good at that in terms of helping progress out of the back. But more carrying the ball than as a passer. That’s also a big place where we miss Dest as we very much rely on his ball progression.
I've said it before. Watke is a genius and hilarious. He is a master at saying little while saying a lot.
Yeah, that is your ol’ timey traditional captain pick. The experienced guy who keeps his head and I suspect has respect within the locker room. It will change for sure, but a safe place to start.

5 players have been released from the squad prior to the Mexico match. No replacements have been announced. Having played a significant amount of minutes in the last month for the USMNT and AC Milan,Christian Pulisic has been released back to his club for load management. Marlon Fossey, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi and Zack Steffen have minor injuries and will return to their clubs for continued evaluation and treatment. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2024/10/five-players-depart-usmnt-camp
The Berhalter era is done, but this remarkable in that I don’t think he does this. I appreciate the thought process.
Disappointed in what it means for the game. We sent guys home mid-camp before, though, especially injured.
If this is due to sending them back to their clubs in time, then maybe they ought to not wait 2 days more than most countries to hold their 1st match. Regardless, I don't agree w/ the thought process. I value seeing how most players fit in here. I'm concerned this indicates valuing club/Europe association. This really handcuffs us v. Mexico. 3 of those guys I wanted to see start. We had a dearth of wings even w/ Christian & I don't want to see Sargent, Wright, or Vazquez start at CF. I might try Tillman.
Yeah, I was referring to sending Pulisic back to ‘protect’ him. If something like that happened before I don’t remember it. Good for Sargent, though, he’ll surely play some Tuesday now. If it’s Vazquez and then Wright, that’s early doghouse stuff for Sargent.
I love the thought process, sending Puli back in one piece. Poch has plenty of other players to parse, there’s nothing to be learned playing Puli in this one.
