we've been squishing Paraguay for ages now; 12 wins in the last 18 games

Not nearly as fluid or dominant on the ball this half as we had been recently. Paraguay was really putting in a shift defending.

And they had a great game plan of just letting our CBs have all the time on the ball. We were unexpectedly stifled by that.

But this is why we continue to need James. He finds the cracks in the defense.

I was getting a tad worried when we had the injury sub and the yellow card, but we showed excellent composure and got that first goal.

was the free kick an accident or deliberate that led to the second goal?

Hope Lucemi is ok, don't think I'd want to start Mina 2 games on 3 days rest but would be happy with Cuesta either way. Another 20 minutes top for James and let Quintero or Yaser do his thing, It's gonna be crucial we manage James minutes and don't overload him.

Lucho Is not sus... Some plays he has 3 defenders on top of him... That is difficult even for the best ones. Also it seems that he wants to make the goal all for himself, like trying to prove himself... Baby you don't need to do that.. we love you already.

I prefer for this game that he drags bodies to himself freeing other players to make the play. Just like on the first goal, he had a player grabbing him an another one close by, freeing Muñoz

Having Rios in the midfield is so much better, always confident on the ball and willing to take pressure and fight all over the pitch. Good type of guy to have who also gets stuck in.

I think he's done great, but I also think we lost quite a bit of possession that we might have had with a Uribe who gets far more touches.

There's a tradeoff. I'm not sure if the midfield is much better, but he's individually way better than Uribe.

It's now time for subs; the 65th minute is a fine point for our other players to bring on fresh influence.

Now we are starting to play sloppy. These players shouldn't have to be scored on to realize that you can't sleep on your opponent even when you're ahead by a goal or two.

And that folks is why Sanchez is a liability, you can't miss that header at the back post. You either have to win it or you don't jump and you get in position to not allow the attacker an easy chance, that's the first rule of a CB, don't dive in unless you know you can get the ball.
