I'm still pissed at that 5-0 2007 Copa. Hope we hit them hard this time around although our results are usually pretty tight

i still remember that game like it was yesterday. We beat Paraguay and Switzerland (my first ever live Colombia game) in friendlies just a couple months before the CA.

Paraguay is a stubborn team but I feel that we must push as hard a possible; going into the match against Brazil after this match has to boost our confidence as much as possible. And gaining momentum early on helps us significantly.

I looked at the matchups incorrectly; Brazil is our last team to face in the group. Now best-case is that we can secure a very convincing win right off the bat and make sure that Costa Rica is also beaten badly. If Brazil has less convincing results (whether not winning by as many goals as us or even drawing), we can have that mental advantage when we face them.

Paraguay won't be easy to break down. They wont really be a threat up top but defensively they will be a big PIA.

Yeah they're always a pain. But Chile did recently beat them 3-0 so I don't think it's impossible for us to get more than 1 goal over them in a victory.

yeah, we beat them 0-1 in qualifiers playing away but I remember our 2nd half play was brutally poor and they were missing Almiron. I just want our boys to play their game but not to play down to their opponents (kind of like the way they treated the 2nd half vs Bolivia).

A convincing win will definitely set all in motion.

Makes sense due to physicality and height.
Only way Paraguay really has a chance is on FKs and corners. They will not be able to beat us consistently in the air with those two on the field.

I mean Mina is a Fking GIANT of a man at 6'5 and 29. At some point I think a lot of the Bolivians didnt even get to his chest haha.

    Sanchez(6'2, 28)
    Lucumi (6'1, 26 this week)
    Cuesta (6'0,25)
Mosquera (6'2,23) - hope he replaces Sanchez or Cuesta as #3 if he has another good season in Spain.

Height game is good for our team in the back. Especially speed wise. Also super young back line with hopefully getting the Other Mosquera to join us plus players popping up in the next 5 years we really good and should think about a back 3. Instead of forcing crap players on the line up to play LB

But having those two CBs would be icing on the cake.

It sounds to me like you are looking for a CB in finance, trust fund, 6'5, blue eyes :whistling:

    No.
Just want Cbs that own the area and head the ball consistently out into safety against a team like this. Mina has been doing that for years for Colombia. And no one is better than Lucumi in Italy at that skill.

I get your point but I imagine the game in a different way
Paraguay is gonna park the bus and that means we will be pressing high and our backline has to be carefull in terms of counterattacks, if thats the game, Mina is too slow for that.

He has lost a step or two which can be a concern.
But I do not think it will be to the point we will give up goals because of him. We shall see.
I think there's a better chance he will help us score as he has done in the past. He is finally looking healthy.

Mina needs to stay healthy his aerial threat can't be matched by anyone on the team. I mean I like the Speed of Sanchez but he has too many brain frats. I think Lucumi is the main CB for the coach but to me it's Mina + someone else. Think Lucumi is the best but you dont bench a guy who makes corners into Pks.

Makes sense because they are hands down our 2 best CB's all thing being equal Mina and Lucemi are at another level to the others.

It is difficult to say hands down since we have played well with Davinson against very good teams. Cuesta looked good in recent friendlies too.
But anyone who says they can be our best pairing I will not argue with. I am just glad we have depth and experience when compared to other teams we may face.

We are blessed with excellent CBs, but I agree with this.
