Hojburg (or however you spell it) CB
Guirresey CF (do we need another with Fulkrug playing so well, he is old, but likely spells end of Moukoko).

I do not see Varella coming in, will be too expensive 75 mil Euro release clause or something.

Rest? I also do not have a clue, but they need 1-2 wingers depending on Adeyemi, Malen, and if Bruner stays. They need an AM for backup to Brandt, which Reus would have been perfect for. They need 1 or even 2 DM if they sell Ozcan or promote Kamara. 1-2 CB depending Hummels retires, and sell Sule, 1 back up LB if Bensabaini sold, and back up RB.

This is the result of piss poor squad planning, but now that Mislintat is back, I am a little more hopeful. Just keep Turdic as far away as possible from the decision making!

    Confirmed exit so far:

    Reus, Wolf, Morey

Players that we should definitely offload:

Ozcan, Bensebaini, Nmecha, Haller, Sule (I mean if he is going to keep looking like a wrestler there really isn't much point in keeping him. Should he manage to return some semblance of form, then keep him)

Players we will most likely sell:

    Malen, Moukoko

That is 10 (or 9 if we don't count Sule) players. Fact of the matter is that we should be doing a huge rebuild because we need it. Factor in Sancho and Maatsen who are on loan here and there are even more players departing. The way I see it we will need at least 5 signings:

CB - we should renew the interest in Bella-Kotchap or alternatively go for Klostermann
LB/RB - with Wolf and Morey definitely leaving, Maatsen returning to Chelsea and Bensebaini being a monumental flop, this leaves us with only Ryerson. Here we should aim to make Maatsen a permanent Dortmund player. Would personally go for Gosens, although he looks Lazio bound. Mittelstädt should also be explored as an option. Rothe should definitely be getting more minutes next season.
DM - Ozcan & Nmecha should be sold which leaves Can & Sabitzer as the only real options in this position. Read somewhere that Edson Álvarez may once again be an option. If he truly is, then we should definitely be looking at him.
AM - only real option is Brandt. Reus is leaving and Wätjen must get more minutes next season.
CF/LW/RW - we basically have Fullkrug, Moukoko, Haller, Sancho, Adeyemi, Gittens and Malen for these positions. Moukoko and Malen are quite likely to be sold in the summer. Adeyemi IMHO is not at the required level and can be a rotation option. Haller is also another player we should look to offload, simply not good enough. Sancho is going back to United, but the money they would want is beyond us. Besides, he hasn't exactly set the world on fire, was arguably the worst player on the pitch during the CL final against Real. This leaves Fullkrug and Gittens plus Adeyemi. Guirassy is quite likely to be the Moukoko/Haller replacement and Duranville can get more first-team exposure as a Malen/Sancho replacement (provided he managed to stay fit that is). One player we should be all over is Maximilian Beier.

All in all we have quite the rebuild to do. There is a good core of players, some good young prospects that should be integrated, but in the same time a lot of deadwood players.

Bensebaini and Nmecha will probably be given another season. The difference between Maatsen and Bensebaini has been a game changer.

Although I like Sancho, keeping Maatsen is more important. If ManU wants too much, Führich would have been the vastly cheaper alternative. But despite his BVB past, he apparently prefers battling for playing time against the likes of Coman and Sane at Bayern.

Only problem is if Rothe gets injured... unless you want to buy Maatsen, expensive. its almost the record fee for Dortmund. I don't think they will buy Maatsen. It might make sense to keep Bensabaini as 2nd choice. But the way turdic operates, he has pretty much alienated half the team, and only his sugar daddy keeps him on

    Generally, Romani is spot on.

Would be a great signing IMHO.

No comments in the last month... Sad times
So we lost Fullkrug since the last comment... Are we ever going to have stability at striker?
We are looking to replace him with Maximilian Beier...
Moukoko going to France on Loan. Most likely anyway
We signed Serhou Guirassy, Pascal Gross, Yan Couto and Walemar Anton

Is that enough to challenge for any trophy?

I think it's a very strong transfer window, all 4 main additions will make the team stronger while we also have some very promising youth players coming through. Beier would be a good fit for us as well. Much will depend on the strikers performing. If Guirassy can replicate his last season, we'll be in a good position.

I also expect Gittens to become a key player this season that will terrorize the opponents. It only seems to be a matter of time that the end product will follow his good development.

Deal for Beier seems to be done. Great addition although there's always a risk that players cannot reproduce their breakout season. He could probably fill out every position in attack. The depth in offense might be too high now but who knows whether Malen or Haller stay.

Paris Brunner on the other side seems to be on his way out, not accepting the contract he was offered by BVB and opting instead for Monaco+loan to Belgium for more playing time. It sucks as I had high hopes for him but it's also understandable that he wants more playing time at a higher level.

I'm not overly excited by our signings, bar with Anton. Beier is young and is as likely to succeed as he is to flop. Guirassy looks like a one-season wonder who on top of that seems injury-prone. Couto is a mystery and Groß is a utility player.

We lost our most proficient striker in Fullkrug, a young and exciting LB in Rothe, plus letting Hummels go. Deadwood players like Ozcan, Bensebaini, Nmecha, and Haller are still here.

If Dortmund were offered the money they were for Fullkrug and decided to decline it then they should have all been put in a mental institution. Fullkrug was an average at best striker and mediocre for the most part who, on a club like Dortmund, should only be a depth pieces and in no way to be counted as an impact player. He lacks technical acumen, and while his hold-up play is decent, Guirassy is the much more superior player in that regard and fits a possession based system much more as he is looking to make himself available outside the box as a passing option while still being the goal scoring threat inside. The injury issue I have concerns about and I agree with you about Haller being a net-negative but, with Fullkrug gone and Moukoko being banished to the stands, I fear we need to keep him for depth as we have no one outside of Baier who is more of a "do-it-all" type and not a CF.

If I've learned anything over the years is : Do not get attached to strikers in this team!! They won't be there more then a few months...

I am exited for football to start again and to see what Nuri has in store for us... But a few bad results early would quickly damped my excitement.
