He was a $1M guy at Austin. He'd be better than Judd as a bench guy if you can get him at a fraction of that salary, but Judd is almost a $0 on the cap. And Zardes is 33.

Judd is 0 on the cap and 0 on the field.

Fair point. As Preston Judd’s namesake Billy Preston sang “Nothing from nothing means nothing”.

Judd scored against the future champs in the home opener.

Missed you, mj lee, Ned and Kaitlyn so we have about 10 STH holders here, still hanging in there, somehow, incredibly. I know it’s love of team and game and the whole gameday experience, and it’s admirable. I also wish the Quakes had to work (much) harder to inspire (and deserve) that level of fan loyalty.
I feel like our STH’s in particular are getting hosed.

We are, but as I have posted before, it's in my blood. Through my parents, we have been season tickets since 1975 (and went to a couple of games their first season in 1974).

I attended Quakes camps at SCU (where Wee Man was a coach), played in an All Star Game at Spartan before a Quakes game, and had our four sons grow up playing and cheering for the Quakes.

After the 2001-2005 team, I realized that we may never have a better time and team. The nature of sports have changed (I.e. money), but it's hard to change the kid spirit in me.

Yes, but it will go to crap without a better d-mid. Unless you're thinking that one of the guys we brought over from the Revs will be an upgrade at d-mid?

    Go Quakesfans!!

Kaye/Harkes at DM, or else go find the next Judson... in any case they shouldn't be using a DP slot at that position

I was listening to a podcast where they mentioned Miguel Berry is at LAG. I totally forgot about him. But If Bruce can’t get Brandon Vazquez, maybe he would go for Miguel Berry? They are similar players…

And they both speak Spanish and were developed in San Diego and are tall and can head the ball.
I actually don’t remember much about Miguel Berry except that I thought he had potential a few years ago.

Berry is slower than molasses and averages around 2 goals a season, with him and Judd (who he replaced as the Galaxy's backup) as their two forwards the 2025 Quakes might be worse than 2024

The Quakes have not had anyone who can head the ball since — well since Jebo arrived. A forward can still be useful even if not fast — Alan Gordon is a good example of that. And he couldn’t even head the ball very well when Beckham first arrived. But with all those beautiful crosses in, he finally figured it out and heading became a major part of his game.

I actually don't think Jebo is that good in the air. He's good at moving into pockets and finding the ball at maybe lower heights, but as for rising up over guys and heading it in, not so much. I don't think the concussions helped. He knows that one more bad one and he may be done so I feel like that is probably in the back of his mind. Matt Doyle one time wrote that Jebo is "dominant in the air". No, not that much. Wondo was good in the air, but other than that, yeah can't think of anyone since Gordon and Lenny. Adam Jahn wasn't bad at it once he bulked up so that he didn't get pushed around, but he didn't play that much.

The weird thing about Judd is he physically looks like a CF who can head the ball well but he actually doesn't. He is not a tall and skinny guy like Pelle but he just doesn't offer anything in the air with all the recklessness involved.

True, he doesn't seem to win headers very often, and in general seems to rarely win 50/50 challenges. He either loses it, or he's called for a foul.

I can't even believe we're still talking about Judd. It's going to be a long season.

I can't speak for anyone else, I would be very happy to lose Judd in the expansion draft, I really want to see us move on from him.
