Revs FB page makes it official they have signed Fofana. Nothing on their site as of now though.

I think they addressed it with Yussuf, albeit too late to make much of a difference last year. That said, I’d like to see an upgrade over Polster - or at least strong competition. He was able to hide a poor season behind others worse performances.

Still need another starting cdef also - and then some depth there too.

Seems like they are trying to move Vrioni, and if that happens we can take another shot at a DP striker.

We’ll also have a high draft pick and the best value there is usually a striker or central defender to develop.

I think the significant international experience mitigates that concern somewhat. And winning an Africa Cup, even at the youth level, is impressive.

i think the concerning part is that since 2022 he has been in Ligue 2. I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and pass judgement after he plays. I don't expect a big name signing on defense but I do expect better than what we lost

Bingo! when you have a defense as bad as it was last year its hard to pinpoint blame. They basically wiped the slate clean and are starting from scratch. If they improve in 2025 we know they did a good job rebuilding, if not the people responsible for the signings, to quote SoccerDoc, should be tared and feathered! This would include the coach

I thought Yussuf was a DM but he seemed to be more of a box-to-box MF in the games he played.
The image of Polster watching Messi walk behind him and score an easy goal in that last Miami match is obvoiusly haunting me.

I’m not sure if you are listing Langoni as a forward (not to mention Chancalay) or that is the team’s classification (assuming the latter), but that’s the kind of shenanigans that let them go into last season woefully understaffed at the position.

    - one guy who produced inconsistently
    - one who was easily/frequently injured
    - one guy who wasn’t really a forward
    - one guy they weren’t even willing to play
    - one guy who was the R2 leading scorer, then traded away for next to nothing

What could go wrong? They had plenty of forwards.

Boateng re-signed (sorry if that’s old news, it’s happened so often it’s hard to keep track) and Mensah confirmed not returning.

You're missing a few international players. Langoni and Yusuf also occupy international slots

The trade of Kaye, Romney and Harkes isn't official yet (and can't be until the trade window opens Monday Dec 9th).

I would think they would resign Nacho, but given his injury history, they probably want him back on a reduced number. Or maybe it’s not wanting to use an international slot, if he still requires one.

We already have 5-6 wingers signed. Carrying Nacho who is only occasionally a positive player shouldnt be an offseason priority.

Need to focus on making sure we have at least 1 more starting quality CB, a starting ST, and a new starting DM. Then we can worry about resources elsewhere, although with langoni, Chanc, Esmir, and Ema already in the fold as everyday contributors and Jack and Fry in the wings, i dont see a spot on the depth chart for a guy like Nacho

I also wonder if they keep him around to make Carles happier.

They need 3 strikers, if they transfer Vrioni. Wood is gone, and they were woefully thin at striker with only those 2 last year.

    Definitely.

I'm just focused on obvious holes in the starting 11 when I mention ST, DM, GK, and CB. After that there are still depth holes (which as always i prefer to either fill with academy guys or challengers for starting roles, not JAGs) at RB, CB, CM, and ST.

Alls to say adding a 7th winger who wasn't especially noticeably positive in his previous stint with the team isn't even something I'm entertaining right now

By my rough count, they only have 6 players left from the 2021 Shield-winning roster:
Boateng, Bye, Farrell, Gil, Polster, Edwards

Looks like we're paying about $300,000 of Kaye's 2025 salary to get him off the team. Oh happy day. Bruce gets him back for a figure more in line with his value.

Expansion draft is late tonight (10:30pm ET).

One questionable name on the protected list:
