I mean hire a coach who has your team in the college cup or hire a coach that went 3-6-6 overall and 1-5-4 in the Big 12 . . . tough choice
Tiffany would run it into the ground. Struggling to compete now that they are in a decent conference. Relies on internationals that aren’t UNC/ACC caliber. UCF used to make deep NCAA tournament runs and now they are Big12 bottom feeders and will be for quite awhile.
Looks like the Wyoming gig has already been filled. Josh Purdum - former assistant coach at Colorado State. I hope they get a better candid/sideline picture of him soon. The one they're using now is brutal.
LimestoneKid doesn’t know their arse from their elbow. Or they are using dialup to post comments. Purdum was appointed a long time ago.Which actually makes the sideline comment hilarious.

I, personally, would find it extremely hard to argue against hiring a coach who’s just navigated their team to a final 4 (or more). From the outside, it seems like Nahas has done everything right and it’d be really harsh for him not to have the chance to lead the program he’s served so well for the better part of 10 years. I do, however, find such vociferous insults of Roberts-Sahaydak to be pretty unfair. She has absolutely not “run UCF into the ground.” They won a lot in the AAC, and they’re only 2 years into playing in a bigger conference. She also won a lot at VCU. I have no idea if she’s a brilliant tactician, but so far in her career, she’s found ways to get players in that are at or above many of her opponents. I wonder how many coaches can boast more conference titles than her…?
Debate: he may have trained this lot, but he didn't recruit them, only time will tell! Can he bring the caliber of players that have been the lifeblood of UNC soccer: 'the system", that will be the challenge. How many younger players will enter portal, another big question to sustainability.
Agreed that he wasn’t the head coach who recruited them, but he was on the staff that did. I don’t know how much or how little he had to do with getting the current roster in place - different staffs handle that differently and Anson’s name alone probably gets some kids to come - but at very least he knows the recruiting habits of the program as is.
In the same day Oregon showed they care about womens soccer and Kansas State (again) showed they don’t.

The cycle is just starting. When Oregon hired, UC Davis opened up. When Auburn hires, another head coaching position will likely open up. And so it goes for many/most other openings. Unless an assistant is hired into a head coaching role, the cycle keeps rolling.
unbelievable work by Auburn admin. In the best way! Connection is obvious with Auburn AD coming from MS State but to get that done after the season MS State had is incredible!
Maybe: Ditching your program for a nearby rival, which I assume offered a nice pay raise, is rather seedy, IMO. Had his contract with Miss.State expired?
Auburn is 1000x easier to recruit to than Miss St. Really a no brainer to make the jump. Plus he already has ties there.
For what it’s worth, my niece was recruited in 2021 and at that time Nahas had fully taken over recruiting. They have all been his recruits from at least 2021. Anson didn’t even really travel to the showcases if my memory is correct. It was Nahas and Thackeray.

This is par for the course with Mississippi St. I’m not just talking soccer, but football, AD’s etc. all jumping ship. I’ve consistently heard that comparative to the other powers particularly in the SEC that they don’t pay as well. It is a brief stopping off point not a final destination.
According to the last set of available data, Hoppa made a base salary of $220,000 in 2023 with Armstrong at $160,000. I would think he would get close to $250,000. While $160,000 isn’t anything to sneeze at, I’m sure it’s not in the top half of salary in the SEC.
