The New England Revolution have signed center back Brayan Ceballos from Brazilian Série A side Fortaleza, the club announced Friday.

The 23-year-old former Colombian youth international is under contract through 2027 with an option for 2028. The deal utilized Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).

Ceballos is New England's second center-back signing of the offseason. Earlier this month, they acquired Mali international Mamadou Fofana from Ligue 2 side Amiens SC.

That, and they cleaned house of CBs. Henry Kessler (last summer), Tim Parker, Dave Romney, Xavier Arreaga and Jonathan Mensah all sent packing.

Sources: Chivas have signed center back Micky Tapias from Minnesota United.

first reported. Fee north of $1m I’m told. Tapias, 27, made 65 apps with Minnesota the last two seasons.

He's younger than Maxi Moralez who was a difference maker for NYC this year.

Yeah that's like DC United level of cognitive dissonance. He hasn't been effective in years.

Marcus Rashford would be a great signing for an ambitious MLS club.

Is Jack Elliott worth close to $1M???

  18. Chicago was paying more for Rafa Czichos so they probably consider this an upgrade. IDK something about the 1 year + club option whispers "prove it".

I realize I am biased, but having watched him in person for the past 8 seasons..... he's still blindly and under hitting clearances to the middle of the field, & getting dunked on for goals despite being 2-4 inches taller than his opponents. He makes the same mistakes now that he did when he was a rookie and got beat out by two teenagers (granted said teenagers are now playing at Celtic and Toulouse respectively). Oh, and Chicago doesn't have Andre Blake in net to cover/clean up his mistakes.

    That's why he's only with $1 million.

How does he compare to Justen Glad?

You do realize that he's one of the highest paid defenders in the league (Elliott)?

Glad makes $1 million. That's why I chose him to compare.

  24. I didn't see much of Elliott last season, and what I saw was at best meh. Kellyn Acosta looked like a slam dunk 2024 FA signing that didn't live up to expectation, and I fear Elliott might be the same. At least GGG didn't hand out a multi year deal like his predecessor in Chicago would so Elliott is on a one year trial.

I think it is kind of shocking that a top free agent would agree to a one-year guaranteed contract. You'd think that he'd want the security of multiple years. Interesting decision.
