Teams can register U-21 players from their academy and those don't count against the 25 UEFA player limit. Ajax have 26 players registered in this category, including a number of starters: Rensch, Hato, Baas, Fitz-Jim, and Hlynsson. Unlike AZ, Ajax only have 5 GKs registered.

Just saw a note on one of the Ajax supporter websites that the Dutch police may extend their strike actions to Champions League matches. This won't be good as those games cannot be rescheduled.

  4. Well, then these matches will be played either witout fans, or elsewhere in Europe.
Anyway with huge losses to the clubs.

Painful flashback PSV in Champions League: hopeless defeat against Juventus
PSV has started the new Champions League tournament badly. In Turin, the Eindhoven team lost 3-1 to Juventus.
More worrying than the result, despite a promising start and a little more possession, was perhaps the impotence of the game.

Where the Eindhoven team flew to Turin in a pretty good mood - in the Eredivisie everything was won and only conceded three goals - Juventus had enough with an effort of ten minutes before half-time against the Eindhoven team. In the home of The Old Lady, PSV had an almost traumatic flashback to last season, when it lost the first group match to Arsenal (4-0). Against Juventus, who haven't conceded a goal yet this season, it was just as mediocre. The build up was laborious, with an inexperienced defense and weak-looking midfield. Offensively, PSV seemed paralyzed, against the sharp Italians. Moreover, PSV could not get a grip on the young 19-year-old Turk Kenan Yildiz, Juve's quick transitions and the recently bought Dutchman Teun Koopmeiners, who wore the striped black and white as if he had been wearing it for years.

  8. Veerman clumsy
After the break, PSV didn't fare much better. Not for the first time this Italian late summer, Veerman suffered a clumsy loss of possession and led in González's 3-0 goal.

Veerman was responsible for second and third Juve goals.
On the third he was robbed of possession in midfield by Koopmeiners a class player he is popping up all over the place.
Veerman subbed off in 61st minute.
Koeman should NEVER pick him again for Oranje with all of the other midfield options.
Absolutely slow and pathetic defensively is Veerman.
Quick recap of match I would say the PSV young fullbacks Ledezma & Dams had a very rough night and Bosz has to take some blame not tightening up things in midfield as they just allowed far too much space for Juventus to attack.
Luuk De Jong and Guus Til both struggle showcasing their iron feet at times while Johan Bakayoko struggled to make any impact on the right wing.
At times especially early in the match some of the PSV play looked quite good with some excellent possession but then the 2 aforementioned Luuk & Guus will rather pathetic when they got on the ball.
Not a positive result for Dutch football tonight against a decent Juventus side that are nothing special truth be told.

The one thing the commentators keep saying was though how PSV were playing good football but simply were too light weight upfront and the juventus defense had them all wrapped up. The thing was of bakayoko’s predictability of not able to use his right foot while he was receiving so many balls in good positions especially on the edges of the box.

The subs Lang, saibiri did bring some impact of the bench but the damage was done.

Koopmeiners indeed looked good in that AM especially from the left side. Linked up well and gave good balls for vlahovic, Yildiz and cambiasso. I think motta in another season or two will transform this team into a power house.

Koopmeiners was popping up in all different areas of the pitch.
Very impressive player with his movement and link up play.
Oranje midfield options are fantastic, and if we can continue to play the fast possession with the movement and combination football our opponents will have lot’s of trouble.

Joey Veerman and PSV learn: You can't do this in in the Champions League
    upload_2024-9-18_20-43-23.png
Juventus has effectively punished PSV's mistakes: 3-1.
Tactical analysis of a match in which mistakes by Joey Veerman are symbolic of PSV's problems. The away game against Juventus confirms everything PSV has feared. Full-backs Richard Ledezma and Matteo Dams fall short defensively at decisive moments. Andrea Cambiaso is causing problems as a roaming left-back. In the phases of possession, PSV does not force things, while Juventus shows maturity in recognizing and finishing chances.

  13. Koopmeiners had to eliminate Schouten:
"Sure. I know PSV very well, I have also seen all PSV matches this season. I also know some guys from the Dutch national team." In midfield, the left-footed player fought duels with Joey Veerman and especially Jerdy Schouten, with whom Koopmeiners said he had to 'go one-on-one'. "I know him very well." "I also know that PSV's game comes from there," the former AZ captain analyzes the opponent. "So it's also true that PSV's game quickly decreases if you take that sting out of it." "I tried to do that as well as I could," says Koopmeiners. "And my job in that was to take Jerdy out, so I had to sit close to him."

If you think PSV looked bad against Juventus yesterday, you can hold Feyenoord's beer against Bayer Levekusen tomorrow. They'll show you poor form; ain't no way PSV will have played worse than Feyenoord this midweek. :speechless:

And it was an away match for PSV.

Meanwhile, Arne Slot's Liverpool won away in Milan, 1-3.

It seems Bayer Leverkusen isnot keeping the goal locked.
So if there's a chance for a result, it should be the mission of Santi Gimenéz to add goals conceded to the tally of Leverkusen.
