https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/ajax-krijg...in-hoop-op-overslaan-voorrondes-europa-league Ajax gets good and bad news in hope of skipping Europa League qualifying rounds 23.28, May 12, 2024 Ajax secured fifth place in the Eredivisie on Sunday, a position that in principle leads to participation in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. There is still a chance that the Amsterdam team will be allowed to skip the qualifications, but in that hope the Amsterdam team received good and bad news.
34 Scenarios that can make Ajax jump right away into the tournement without qualifaction games. https://sportnieuws.nl/voetbal/nieu...t-naar-het-hoofdtoernooi-2024041613525417707/ Ajax has to go to the Europa League qualifying rounds, but miraculously they can go directly to the main tournament.
That boat sailed when Aston Villa were eliminated from the Conference League. Ajax maintains a lot of UEFA Coefficient Points and will be a seeded club. If they have to go through playoff rounds, so be it. Remember back in 2019 the had to win three matches to make it to the group stage of the CL. Whether Ajax can repeat this feat or not will be decided in the next several months and it's just not worth any worry about almost impossible results in Portugal, Italy or Greece. There is about as much chance of those breaking Ajax way as a second luna eclipse of the sun over here this year.
The Swiss Ramble goes over how and why Girona may not play in next season's Champions Leagues despite qualifying. It involves mult-club ownership as the group that owns ManCity has a controlling interest in Girona according to the new UEFA rules.
I think the European Union should act on multiple club ownership, as it gives room for manipulating results. Worse it could be used for money laundering betting results manipulations.

798 For the first time in almost 60 years (last time was 1965) the Go Ahead Eagles play a European match. To cele brate their bridge is yellow/red illuminated:
FC Twente down 0-2 at home against Red Bull Salzburg after only 25 minutes. Aggregate is now 1-4 in Red Bull's favor. I don't think Twente are advancing in the CL; I suppose they will drop down to the Europa League.
Why is anyone surprised about this? They had the good fortune of edging out AZ because AZ had some stumbles in winnable matches and an Ajax team that was just plain horrible. they were never going to qualify for the CL. EDIT: I see they did get one goal before HT so maybe good fortune will shine on Enschede in the 2nd half.
Caught most of the 2nd half and Twente gave it their all. Unerstall saved a penalty at 2-3 and Steijn tied the match with about 10 minutes left. Salzburg were on the back foot but held out for the draw to advance.
Shame Ajax have fallen apart as Twente have no business playing Champions League football. Just not good enough.
1085 Vlap is disappointed with the first half Michel Vlap thinks that there could have been more for FC Twente on Tuesday evening. "In the first half, we played faint-hearted football. I can't handle that very well, so I'm very disappointed," he said to Ziggo Sport. "If you look at how we played in the second half... We just did it ourselves, I think that's just a shame. These are games that are fantastic to play football, so I'm disappointed."
The coach is a moron. Kjolo was already in the first half making mistake after mistake and yup, in the second half he lost the ball that caused the 3d goal and then he still waits 15 minutes to decide it's time to sub him out.
