Just checking if anyone has candidates for the Dust league? Maybe we can get the six more needed by end of this weekend to be able to make the draft, if not I guess we’ll try again next season. I guess it was a long shot to try this but was worth a shot anyway. Maybe we can still make it happen in extra time if we all ask around…

Looks like no dust league this season but hopefully next season we can restart it, since we already have two in the queue and we’ll get an earlier start before next season trying to find others to fill the other six spots. Sand league gets another year off the hot seat;)

Yes, looks like reviving Dust won't happen this year.

As for getting off the hotseat, I'd propose with 2 in the queue who couldn't get in this year, that those 2 owners be kept first in line, granted the promotion spots, and assured spots in Sand next year. If you finish 7th or 8th in Sand, you would be down to a newly revived Dust division......

What says everyone? Things can sometimes just go wrong despite best intentions, but if you end up 7th or 8th in Sand, you "may" not have been particularly active and if this "threat" of relegation pushes everyone a little bit more, that's good for the whole division.

Potentially scary for you, Norm, as you could see MightyQ leapfrog you if you mess up this season, but do you accept the challenge? :p

Challenge accepted:D I placed fourth last year in sand, this season plan to at least get into the top three so no worries. But I like your idea to have the seventh and eighth place in sand join dust next season, Then we just need to get another four to complete the division. I’m also the defending champ for the Dusty cup so looking forward to defending my title next season also:thumbsup:

For the Dusty Cup tournament, I’ll defer to Mark since he ran the last one when we had the Dust division some years ago (but I can run the Sandy cup and the Dusty cup if need be, my son will be able to make a Dusty Cup Trophy with a picture of Pigpen on it:ROFLMAO:)

Actually, a correction to my earlier post. I’m giving the dusty cup trophy to my son to defend it next year since I’m going to be in sand:D

Whyt don't the 2 Dust league Managers just create 6 "friends" between them, manage 4 teams each and pretend to run a bottom league... that scanrio sounds very familiar ?? :geek:;)

Not sure about thato_O:ROFLMAO: but I think having the 7th and 8th teams in Sand and then the two newcomers forming half of the Dust League, and then getting four more newcomers to complete the division makes the most sense in my opinion. Anyway, it’s something to think about for next season if others want to bring back the Dust division. Either way it’s fine, the more managers the merrier for all-rocks is my thinking on this, good luck all for the new season:thumbsup:

For those who haven't been around this long, it was over a decade ago when @DrHeckle surfaced and then brought in a number of "friends" who had teams to build the Dust division. But, then it seemed (at least as I recall it) that these friends could never post, and Dr. H was submitting all of their picks. With a league of 8 teams, Dr. H was at some point labeled the All Rocks Octopus with 8 tentacles (one for each team that he appeared to be managing in the division), or something like that. It was all very suspicious, and was also the only rational explanation that made sense when he won! :p Crazy to see that he remembered that, and good to see him taking a poke at himself!

Just to clarify what I was proposing Norm, if #7 and #8 are going to be relegated to Dust, the two newcomers will go directly into Sand next season to replace the relegated teams. So, Dust will have 2 in it (the 2 relegated teams) and we'll need to find 6 new teams.

I think that would work, hopefully with plenty of time to find 6 more managers between now and next season it will happen (still may be a challenge to find that many, we may need to institute a referral bonus or something:p. And I guess it’s some compensation for the two left out for this season. For next season they get instant promotion to Sand for doing nothing (while others like myself had to claw our way to sand from the dust, pun intended :D

Actually that last part was a bit over-dramatic. My first year in All-Rocks was a dream season for me: 1st place in Dust to get promoted to Sand, 1st place in Statler-Waldorf Cup and 2nd place overall in entire all-rocks league. Unfortunately since then I haven’t come close to that season (mostly mid-table finishes in Sand), but since this is my 9th season in All-rocks and 9 is my lucky number, who knows? Anyway Sand will be more competitive this season with Dust reforming, I plan to be in the top three in Sand as mentioned earlier (but reserve the right to be in the middle three if it plays out that way:ROFLMAO: Good luck to all, looking forward to the start on Aug 16:thumbsup:

While I appreciate Dizzy helping out this year in Keysergate I think he should be in Dust next year and start where we all did, and all the other league placings in the other leagues shuffled to accomodate. :)

Sometime in the future maybe there will be a Molecules and Atoms leagues as well (as a scientist I had to throw that into the mix…)
