Well well well… He did it. In the 89th minute. it’s all over but the shouting. Ps. In the pre-match buildup, Kljestan, Twellman and maybe Petke too, predicted NYRB to miss the playoffs this year.
I turned the game off at HT figuring Messi would come in later and end the game. I do feel bad for Redbull fans that paid big money and didn’t see Messi for majority of the game. Miami is under no obligation to play him major minutes under the circumstances. The bandwagon fans that wore pink I merely laugh at you for paying big money to watch the team you’ve been following for only a month. Thank you for spending money at the concessions at RBA and safe travels home. I’m glad it’s finally dawning on people that Troy is not that good a coach. A big tell in RB plans for next season will be what they do with the head coach. If they’re serious about spending money then I can’t see them keeping him as coach while passing on an opportunity for a better guy. I think it goes hand in hand.
Really meant to watch last night live, but again I keep losing track of things on ATV. So I just caught up with it now, and I have to say it was a waste of my time. Revs were clearly better, but no great shakes. We just completely sucked. maybe the worst I’ve seen us this season? And the difference turned out to be a goal we gave them via 2 sloppy mistakes (Yearwood, then N’dam) Sigh
We are playing another Sunday match this weekend. Go figure. This one against Philly. And also, this one is on FS1. Go figure.
Stayed up late last night to watch replay of a really pathetic showing down in Philly. No words. Except perhaps that the officials really screwed us with a few calls, especially an early second yellow on Nealis for a supposedly intentional handball… What a joke that call was, and what a travesty that VAR can’t review situations like that. I suspect that VAR restriction will be changing soon.
Yeah, sure seems like that. I see no big reason to hope/believe we're gonna make a run from here on out. And our last 7 games aren't exactly easy.
Had to work the night of the loss against Philadelphia. That shift was particularly awful at my job because I was extremely busy. And that was still better than watching the game. For me, the season ended on two occasions back to back. The Omir Fernandez miss of a sitter in the first half against Miami. Not saying they would’ve won but maybe a tie was possible. Then following that up with the putrid show against New England. I think the team has surrendered and is playing out the string. The last remaining shred of pride in this franchise, the playoff streak, will be gone as well.
Indeed. I just watched the recap. It’s amazing how much atmosphere you can get in RBA with just a few 1000’s. It’s such a shame we don’t put 15-20K in there regularly. But of course we’d need a better product on the pitch first to even imagine that.
RB have stopped trying. If they're making an effort to put a quality team together it ain't obvious. Even if I still lived in NJ I wouldn't go anymore.
I just watched the DC game highlights and if Troy Boy has to go it must for the fact that Vanzier is the big DP signing and rarely gets on the field. With that the Bulls are playing a 442 this year which goes against what Vanzier does best. Yet we still find a way to start Barlow every god damn match. He should be fired just for that.
He's out for the season https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/new-york-red-bulls-forward-dante-vanzeir-out-for-season-with-injury Guess we'll be depending on Tom Barlow to score the goals.
Been traveling, so just caught up with the DC game. Watched recap. Probably would’ve been fun to watch the whole thing. Good to see the boys still have some spirit and haven’t totally given up on a dismal season. And I have to say that Cameron Harper is surprisingly probably my favorite player of the season. Unsung hero territory?
Unsung yes. Hero no! Yearwood is inconsistent and shows bad judgment too frequently, to earn my respect.
Well I think that’s our season done. Chicago sat back for 62’ so we outshot them at least 15-0 at that point. But of course had nothing to show for it. Just then N’dam who was only in the XI because Sean Nealis was out for yellow accumulation, foolishly picks up a second yellow. On the ensuing FK, before we had any chance to bring in a replacement CB, Chicago gets and buries their first shot. Maybe didn’t help that in N’dam’s absence, Barlow was marking the goal scorer. After that there was a complete role reversal in the game state, where we struggled to get the ball at all and they pretty much camped in our half. Except at 96’ Amaya hits the bar on what woulda salvaged a measly point. And the trigger-happy ground crew impulsively lit the fire & smoke in hope? We clearly don’t deserve to make the playoffs. Can’t remember when we were this bad, especially up top. Pull the plug on this season, this squad (partly), and this coach.
