Just bought the reversible jacket with the $96 credit and STM discount. Two jackets for $20. Looks really sharp - has a 90s feel to it.
Just got (partial) season tix for myself and Mrs Kyle Crew. Had full season tix 2015-2017, but the Austin business kinda put us off it for a while.
https://am.ticketmaster.com/crew/2023StudentRush The next four home games for $80. It appears you don't actually need to be a student. But holy crap! They're actually offering discount tickets for students! Edit: The fact that they're $20 each makes me think they're Nordecke...which is sold out for STMs, so this is either another supply OR not Nordecke. Part of me is still hesitant about this whole thing and I'm flashing back to when the FO would sell the supporters group to anyone as a "see and be seen party section." But it's still fun to see discount tickets once again.
Should’ve been doing this all along. I was listening to Allocation Disorder today, they mentioned revenue sharing has been reworked. No specifics, but the amount of money that gets shared has been reduced, so teams keep more of what they themselves make. Makes sense to work harder to get tickets sold.
Didn't they get rid of game day discounts for youth before they got rid of youth season prices? People are less likely to take the kids to a game if they can't get discounts for the kids. We all know how hectic life is with their schedules, especially if they're playing 1-2 youth league games Saturday starting at 9am. For the soccer-playing families, it may be decision made 4-5 hours before kickoff. But the other side of the coin is that discounts for youth sports tickets rarely exist outside minor league and college sports.
The tickets are not in the Nordecke and likely never will be. They can be in any section, it's not set in stone, you get a random unsold seat. From the team page describing the ticket: For just $20 per ticket, College Rush gets you access to a mystery seat location in the stadium: could be Club seats or could be Upper Level tickets! https://www.columbuscrew.com/tickets/rush
Crew have been giving away youth tickets for years - at least they did at HCS. They give them to teams at certain youth tournaments around state. Parents however have to buy tickets. Long before we were STMs that is usually how/when we would go to 2-3 games per year. Remember all the parade of teams pre game/halftime? Those were likely free or highly discounted tix. Mom & dad paid full price. Was/is a good strategy if you ask me.
So it appears it is just for the next 4 matches. Which makes a little sense for students who don't live in Columbus - they may likely be going home for the summer. Also because those are likely lower attended matches than in summer. Will be interesting to see if they offer it again during season.
Ohio State students already have access to discounted Nordekce tickets, as well as discounted tickets to lots of other stuff (sports, concerts, etc.): https://activities.osu.edu/programs/dtix/events For the Crew, mostly these are $14 Nordecke tickets. The allotment for the 3/25 is gone. They actually had access to free tickets for the RSL match on 4/1, but those are gone, as well. There are still $14 student ticket available for the matches on 4/15, 4/29, 5/13 and 5/17. Obviously, the $20 College Rush package is a different animal entirely.
