New at @SBJ: @AEGworldwide and @LAGalaxy are expanding their Coachella Valley Invitational for its second year in 2023.It will feature a field of 12 @MLS teams and for the first time it will be open to fans. pic.twitter.com/ZG35ga6yRY— Alex M. Silverman🏒⚽️ (@AlexMSilverman) November 15, 2022 Quakes will be one of twelve teams playing in the Coachella Invitational. I didn’t know where to put this. Mods you can merge it with another thread if you think it fits.
Wait I thought the reason the Quakes didn’t play MLS teams in preseason under Almeyda is that Fish is too cheap to do so - it had nothing to do with Matias’s desire to keep our super double tricky tactics a secret and his feeling that it wasn’t important. So confused now!

What, games against MLS opponents, and not top secret / closed to the public because we're doing some super tricky tactical stuff and we don't want anyone to know? What's different this preseason, that could possibly account for that??
We’re CRAP!! I think it’s going to be an improvement to play actual MLS clubs in preseason. Our on-field organization has been shit the last several years, so improved coaching should help that. Luchi says that he has higher standards now than he did before, so hopefully, that means that he brings in some better guys, and that he whips our existing guys into better shape. I remain unconvinced that that we have turned a corner, or that we even know where the corner is. Show me! I want to see actual improvement before I’m willing to say that we actually are better. Go Quakesfans!! - Mark

If Mrs bsman is sufficiently recovered from her shoulder replacement, I could dig trading Jan/Feb in Madison for the Coachella valley for a couple of days… Madison, WI Weather average Month High / Low(°F) January27° / 8° February31° / 11°

Crew's U17 kid Stanislav Lapkes is incredible. He's got a scout from Barcelona looking at him this weekend. He saved 4 PKs in one game this winter fest showcase.
Ochoa isn't very good compared to some of these guys, but then looks great compared to others. It shows the quality of coaching among MLS Next teams is vastly different depending on the organization. NYCFC's Next Roster arrived looking like an actual MLS Club, while some of these teams (US) came in looking like a obnoxious kids. Fck Portland too. Their MLS Next game vs the Crew was pretty good though.
Kid asked for my snapchat lol. Then he asked if I would join him for the team dinner. I had to decline, gave him my snapchat though HAHAHAHA
Well look on the bright side - you’ve probably got better cheese, and “your four seasons”. I always resented that “4 seasons” thing a little bit, like we don’t have them. We have them; they are just a bit more subtle. But not *really* subtle like Hawaii or something.
Same here - we're a bit colder in the winter and hotter in the summer than Buffalo, but you win the snow accumulation prize...
Crew beat Miami today 2-1. The keeper as I've spoken about made about 5 world class saves today, including a 7 save sequence. Quakes are meh to me. I enjoyed watching the Crew's academy team.
