FIRST ROUND OF 100-TEAM 2023 LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP KICKS OFF WITH 14 GAMES ON MARCH 21-23 28 OPEN DIVISION TEAMS BEGIN U.S. SOCCER’S NATIONAL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 14 GAMES BETWEEN MARCH 21 AND 23; A COMPLETE LIST OF THE 100 PARTICIPATING TEAMS HAS ALSO BEEN CONFIRMED FOR THE 2023 LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP. FEBRUARY 3 2023 ussoccer.com Revs (and 17 other MLS clubs) will enter in the third round, April 25-26.
First round is under way. Locally, Hartford City FC (NPSL) enter the fray tonight, hosting Lansdowne Yonkers FC. Round 2 begins April 4th. Pittsburgh Riverhounds have already won their Round 2 match, by forfeit, after Rochester NY FC folded two weeks ago.
Round 2 began last night, with 10 of the 30 games. USL-C clubs went 9-0. Eighteen of the 20 remaining games are tonight, with the round 3 draw scheduled for tomorrow, April 6, 6:30pm ET, live on BleacherReport and YouTube. With both NY teams not entering until the 4th round, odds are that the Revs will draw Hartford Athletic (3-0 winners last night). Flower City Union (Rochester), the only non-USL-C winner last night, is another possibility.
Managed by Tab Ramos. Didn't Bruce give him his last USMNT cap during a qualifier for the 2002 World Cup?

I'm a little surprised it's at Gillette, hopefully it'll be a decent crowd. I like the intimacy of the Harvard venue for these games. I do like that it's a mid-week game (easier than Saturday nights for me). And, another home game makes for a very home-heavy April. I guess I prefer the home game, but I would've made the trek to Hartford if it had been there.
They've said they really want to make Gillette "home" so they're trying to host all these games there, even if they'd probably do better elsewhere.
I may make this my first game of the year if i am out of the brace and not using my walker.l little scared to be in big crowds but i may just go for it as i support both teams
Hartford has a suspect back 4. They added Hoppenott to the attack who used to play with the Union. On paper they are a better team than last year...which sucked. They could take this game if Bruce decides to start the bench and reserves.
Tab Ramos is a good coach. But even then they're winless in their last 9 going back to last year in the championship. Even playing our 2nd team we should be heavily favored
Well, I think we'll find out. I expect a lot of squad rotation in this one. Right off the top, the academy grads have gotten MLS minutes this year already, so they should be up for an early-round USOC game. I expect to see Panayotou, Buck and Esmir with a lot of minutes and likely Rennicks as well. I expect Farrell and Boateng to get serious minutes as they have been begging for playing time. Probably Makoun as well and I'm wondering if this is when we'll get a first look at Josh Bolma - maybe a right back, spelling Bye? Then probably Reveno or Spaulding in the back line? I'd also expect Petrovic to watch this one, as he's not getting any MLS games off.

If I'm Bruce I'm definitely using this to get minutes for Rennicks, Rivera, Esmir, Jack, Makoun, and Edwards. After those 6 you have room for a striker or a winger, and most of the backline. I think Omar is a good veteran in the back, and another chance to get Sweat more integrated. After that, I'm signing Okello and Peyton Miller to 10 day contracts. Rennicks Rivera Esmir Winger/striker Jack Okello Miller Sweat Omar Makoun Edwards
Oh my. You're just asking for a cupset there. I think Bruce will keep 4-5 starters in there. Since he didn't play Saturday, I'm guessing Borrero will be one of them.
I just don't think you put unnecessary strain on the guys who are going to compete for the league. It would be great to still have a fully healthy team with all the depth, but we don't. Running out a reserve team with Nacho, Farrell, Tommy, and Bobby Wood would be a lot better than what I've put, but I care more about getting 3 points against FCC than the USOC. That said, The roster I've selected has a good number of quality vets, no Jozy (so no worthless vets), and gets minutes for our 1st team homegrown without jeopardizing the availability of the starters for Saturday
