Any changes we should make from the last game's starting lineup? Out of the front 7 Edelman and JoGo were't subbed out, I generally like Vargas over Edelman this tourney but I feel like this game's better suited for Edelman. Halliday could be better than JoGo as a natural rightie but I'm fine either way. And Paredes and Pukstas should be good to start with this break between games, I'd start Paredes over...I guess Wolff?
Been hearing that Uruguay will be out three starting players, one for the red and two for yellow accumulation. If true that gives us a pretty major edge. It was also a hard fought 10v10 game and they have half the rest we do. Advantage usa there too. Those priors favor us but of course the game needs to be played on the field.
It's pretty simple. We should be able to win if we are as good as we think we are. There are zero excuses for our team.
Why Edelman over Vargas, Vargas is just so much better, let's not be scared thinking less skilled players are better defenders vs really good teams. We are better than Uruguay. 3xin the back, Che, Craig, Wynder, Vargas, McGlynn, Wiley LW, Luna, Cowell, and I think Sullivan gets the call. My concern is Puskas and Paredes looked out of sink and rusty. If they improve in practice and look good I think Paredes plays on right wing in place of Gomez due to him being gassed. Puskas comes off the bench to defend lead.
Which two for yellow card accumulation, I only see their LCM Damian Garcia with a yellow today who didn't have a yellow before? Another advantage is they haven't really rotated (been forced switch out couple of attackers that were injured, otherwise their central midfield three, back four, and goalkeeper have been the same starters for all four games)
The other two are actually out with injuries you referenced in the next paragraph. The announcer said those players would be out for the next round if Uruguay advanced.
I dunno, I feel like Cowell is really darn predictable: 1) Three to five moments of physical dominance that make you go "wow." These could range from Cowell stealing some defender's lunch money on the press or bodying some guy while running off their shoulder. 2) Two clever passes. 3) Three bizarre miscontrols. 4) 0 to 2 goal contributions
I'd probably go with: Cowell---------Luna--------Paredes ------McGlynn--Wolff/Pukštas----- ------------------Vargas----------------- Wynder----Craig----Che----Gomez ------------------Slonina---------------- I think Wolff has been ok. I just don't know much about Pukštas. I thought he was ok in qualifying last year but didn't really stand out. Presumably, his game has grown a lot in Croatia this year. If that's right, I'm fine starting him.
I wonder how effective Paredes could play inverted. For Wolfsburg and DC, the handful of experiments on the right were not successful.
If that doesn't get you pumped, nothing will. They had Suarez and Cavani, but we had Jozy, Mikey... and Freddy Adu for good measure.
Havoc is all that matters btw maximum optimal is a Ty Keoughism...i only heard him use it once but obviously it left an impression
thank you. just play your better players and play on the front foot dont fall into the historical inferiority complex that just feeds itself...... play your less skilled cuz they are "better defenders" creates the need in the first place possess the ball ....attack with the ball dont go in a shell dont bunker dont play conservative. these players are good enough to not need 1990s us tactics.....just play for real. mano a mano
this match is when the tourney starts.....likely not to be a walk in the park like the other games.... need to be ready for blood.
