Shunsuke Mito scored a brace today, the 1-0 and the 3-0 against Fortuna Sittard. He has now 5 goals this season. After he was more or less, a sure starter, together with Koki Saito last season, he find himself in a tougher situation, especially after the U23 WC. At beginning of the season, he was often on the bench but fight his way back into the first squad and looks like he is getting better and coming into form.

I know not that much about him before his time at Sparta but when I watch the Japan games at the U23 WC last year, I remember the german commentators single out Saito and Mito as one of the biggest talents in the squad. The told, that he and especially Saito for his age are already 2 very consolidated players in the Eredevise.

Anybody knows more about him ? Could he become a star ?

He looks like a player Japan not have at the moment. He looks very fast in terms of instant/short sprints with the ball and has a incredible close and smooth ball handling when is under pressure. He also like to dribble but not as tricky as Mitoma or Kubo more with body movements and close ball moving/handling. He often holds the ball, and then from zero he likes to try to go through his opponents with fast and short movements. His height with 1,64m helps a lot for this playstyle I guess.

For me he looks promising and could offer some more depth, when he can develop.

I think he was good in the Olympics. Very small player though.

Sorry I mean the Olympics, not the U23 WC. My bad.

Mito's rating of 6.5 is laughable. He should be rated a 4, because he missed about 3 or 4 one on one scoring opportunities against the goalie.
He did the same misses against PSV.
He's fun to watch as long as he doesnot get into scoring positions.

    Crunch time.
Seems like Oosting is going to rest players against Ajax for the play off rounds.
Don't think that's a good idea, to take players out of their rythm.
PSV faces Sparta, they regularly beat in Rotterdam.
In Eindhoven however, Mito beat the PSV fefense several times with quick dribbling, but like against Ajax he's a piss poor finisher.
Who knows he finally gets it right, and gets tulips from Amsterdam.
