2023/27 Ayase Ueda | 2025/ Tsuyoshi Watanabe @ Feyenoord (NED)

Discussion in 'Japanese Abroad' started by GunnerTNB, Aug 3, 2023.

  1. Sorry but not true.

Marc Nagtegaal pointed to the spot in injury time, when Tengstedt went to the ground. The Dane personally took care of the job and made the Kuip cheer after all. The Rotterdammers keep Ajax and NEC, the clubs that are aiming for place 2, behind them.
That Casper Tengstedt himself could stand behind the ball was not agreed in advance.

    Robin van Persie:
"Normally, Ayase (Ueda, ed.) is our first penalty taker, but he gave the ball to Casper. I'm happy for him that he scored."

Yeah sorry, sometimes I use wrong words.Don't know it it's true, but some dutch media reports, that was the reason to let him recover a little.

Oh nice, you mean Ueda gave it from himself to Tengstedt ? In Germany it looks like he want to take the penalty and also the german commentators said "Oh Ueda and Tengstedt want to take the penalty. They both stand on the spot". Looks like they battle for it.

Often you see different pictures/angles in different countrys. Sometimes hard to see what really happened.

  5. The German commentators donot know that Ueda is the number one penalty taker, so there isnot a battle possible.
Ueda takes the penalty or he decides to leave it to another player. That's the rule book.

Good to know, thanks for that information :). Even I didn't know that there are strict rules for that at Feyenoord. I know that Ueda is likely to take the penalty but not that he is the No.1 taker.

A penalty goal would have been good today.

  8. Maybe he didnot have a good feel about it and decided it would be better for him (missing it would feel bad) and the team.

So whats the talk around the club and fans about Uedas bad form?

  10. Only in here I read about his supposedly bad form.
He comes into scoring positions, but sometimes the ball just won't go in.

You mean outside of this forum the fans didn't find his form bad at all, more unlucky ?

Well its 10 games now. I call that bad form.
Specially when he was outstanding in the early part

I doubt many fans just think he is unlucky

Not great because both Ogawa and Machino are not doing much either at the moment. Shiogai has to settle in at Wolfsburg so it's only Goto at the moment in good form. But they're both inexperienced. Ueda is vital for the National Team so hopefully he picks up his form again. And if there is a penalty shootout in the WC Ueda ought to be first taker. I trust him for that

Ogawa is quite good. In his full game he scored and a game before he assisted in the league against Breda and Zwolle Mysterious wise then he sat 2 games in a row over 90 minutes on the bench and one week later a 17 minute cameo. But wouldn't say he is out of form. Pretty solid season.

Machino has some ups weeks ago but for now he has problems like at the beginning of the season. To be fair the team is in the same scenario. Hard to perform but he is my biggest disappointment so far.

He has scored 7 so i think his season is good. But he is also one of those players that is not a starter anymore.

He starts almost every game this season despite the last 2-3 weeks which was quite surprising. That would be to harsh, to say he isn't a starter anymore. Could be some sort of rotation. And of course you see, it doesn't work that good. So it's likely, that he will be back again soon.

  17. First of all the fans like his relentless efforts, not giving up. That's the spirit the fans like.
And in those scoreless matches, how often did he hit the bar and the post or wasnot he served right by the wing players. That he just near missed a chance?
The fans simply love the guy.
Ueda has shown his appreciation for the fans by actively engaging with them during matches. Following the games, he has made it a point to applaud the supporters, enhancing the bond between the players and the fan base. His work ethic and dedication to the club have made him a fan favorite, contributing to a supportive atmosphere in the stadium.

Last match of the weekend and given the direct competitors for the spot 2 played each other and drawed,
a splendid chance for Feyenoord to increase the gap with both Ajax and NEC with 2 points!!
