There were a lot of Pulido rumors before he signed, but I can't think of any others who made that much noise.

So my guess right now is it's unlikely we're on the verge of signing a Mexican international.

On the podcast Thad said he was pretty confident a player may already be signed and they are just waiting for things to clear before releasing who that is. He didn't say that if he knows who the player is.

Jeebus, only SKC would see that as a good plan. Don't raise hopes! Never let fans dream! Keep everyone down in the dumps and release this news at the last minute.
Everyone understands that transfers can take time, there is no upside to not announcing an actual signing. I guess it go the way of Sala, plane crash on his way to join Cardiff. but even then, the fans had something to get exicted about first, then to grieve about

It sounded like delaying an announcement, if a player is already signed, was more about whatever paperwork is required for that transfer to be finalized and approved that it was about keeping the info from fans. MLS transfer window closes in 2 weeks, so it won't be much longer.

All that said, we were told they would sign someone that could play during the CashGrab cup. Maybe this player is available once the elimination rounds start, but definitely not sooner.

With only 8 MLS matches left, other than helping SKC avoid relegation, not sure what benefit this new player will provide.

1 window down, 2 to go.

Only real benefit is getting him in, so he's integrated for 2025.

So, able to play right away would mean no immigration issues. So US, green card holder to citizen. I bet it's Pulisic :0

Given the latest take from ownership, that Vermes is the man to oversee the rebuild, I think it's more likely that SKC is relegated, in a league without that, than Vermes is fired before late 2025.
As has been noted, this is the first window he was given to overturn a just horribly constructed roster. Winter will be two. Next summer will be three.
So the end of next season he might actually be surviving on merit, but right now he's been given a license to fail, without pressure, until then.
I mean, seriously, WTF was ownership thinking when they came out and said that he was clearly the man to oversee a rebuild.

I see it as complacency followed by Oh Frack! What did we do. SKC was making the playoffs, butts were in seats and merch was selling so why change? As things turned bad it becoame clear that getting rid of PV would really upset the organization and be expensive. The 5 year contract may have been done to give themselves time to make changes and/or to see if PV could find some new mojo.

In his on field interview after practice video, he says one deal is done, it's an int slot, and a second deal is waiting on movement from the other side. This is cutting it close

What's your definition of close? We're just over halfway through the transfer window.

The window closes in less than 2 weeks. Completing two signings in 2 weeks for us is close. Signing an Int player now implies the possiblility of visa issues on the one and if on the second esp If we're dealing with a club that is dragging it's feet, it's close if Vermes hope was to play them in League's Cup, which seems like a nice place to get a good look at a new player.

BTW, the Australian we were linked to, who signed for Nashville, looked really lost in his first outing.

Don't worry. There will soon be another announcement about a pending announcement.

Meanwhile St. Louis has improved, RSL just signed a DP 10, the comparable teams (aka not the LA's and Miami's of the league) are getting better, while KC is getting 1 maybe 2 signings. I fully expect a signing based on what I've heard/seen, but it won't be super exciting. I fully expect the "bigger" work will happen this winter when they have all those options coming up. Doesn't make it any more annoying when the "bigger" window for pulling in players from Europe is the window SKC traditionally only goes bottom of the barrel shopping in.

Will be interesting going into next year and beyond if this changes in the Mr. Burns era.

I'd think that if we intend to blood a new signing during League's Cup (which i believe was the original intent) we should probably sign someone, well, last week, but today at the latest, though that cameo would be seat on the bench, at most. Unless we beat Columbus, of course.
The new MLS sweetspot is players on big five league club benches, occassional players who want more. We're reaching the point where for some clubs, after the DPs and U-22s, this seems to be de rigeur for their starting 11.
We, of course have Thommy, Radoja and, uhm, Fontas and Russell (who are no longer regular starters) in this class.
Just wondering, as EPB is back playing, but left off the pan euro roster, is he now possibly one of those Vermes is talking about? I'm not sure that would be great, as is he healthy? but I wonder

To be fair it's the second time he's been signed. Him and Tschantret were signed and on the bench for the Fire game.

Yup. That was July 27. Today is Aug 8.

Peter's announcement of pending annoumcnemt promised a signed, sealed, and yet to be delivered mystery inbound transfer who could play in the Garber CashGrab Cup (The GC GC for short). SKCs GCGC run likely ends Friday in CBus. Summer window closes in less than a week. No rumors anywhere. It all feels like make believe at this point.
