I never knew that getting to 10 wins was a measuring stick.

"Butler became the fifth-fastest Saint Francis women's soccer coach to reach 10 wins at the program."

Especially when you consider they only have had 10 coaches and 1 of those was for a year. Too often the norm. Even at the power whatever level, the quality usually isn't very good or knowledgeable for non-revenue sports. Better than that Delaware St. travesty, but not that much better.

Weird timing, Jenna Wallace had only been HC for one season. Do you know if she accepted a position at a different school?

I'm going to bet that the Interim HC, Brett Sarsfield, has the inside track on securing the position full-time.

ThePonchat has had this on the list for a couple of weeks. I agree it seems likely the interim head coach is filling the position, so perhaps the job opening ad simply is following required procedure.

Just saw that this is LIU's fourth head coach in four seasons. Tough on those kids. And took 7 months to make a hire. I think it's easy to say this is the most incompetent administration in the country.
But also, that no one may care

Certainly evidence of mismanagement but would not be surprising at all if this was a budget issue. They may have just not had any funds to pay a new coach until July 1. I can tell you some pretty big name mid-major programs are having budget issues. Paying assistants, paying for team travel (reducing non-conference travel), recruiting budget for travel, etc.

If you are at a school that is 'above the line' in terms of enrollment and budget, you should feel lucky (or your kid should). Funny thing is that the big State schools, the P4s, are enrolling everyone and squeezing this tight higher ed enrollment market even more at privates and regional state schools. This is going to be a tough year as those P4s keep spending crazy money, and more of it directly on athletes, then the TV Contract "have nots" like maybe a UCONN.

See current news about UCONN coach Hurley considering going to the Lakers. The simple analysis is, "why stay at a semi-pro college team, with rules changing every month, rosters every semester, when you can get paid more in a real pro league, that at-least HAS multi-year player contracts"

Does anyone think Oregon State will cause some ripples in terms of more openings after they hire or does the lack of conference hurt the pool?

I think them not having the P4/P5 label is going to hurt them. Because the facilities aren't great even compared to the rest of the WCC. Plus this is the 2nd coach in a row, the players have gotten fired (air quotes 'Resigned').

Curious who would go for the Oregon State job? Is it a good program or will coaches be cautious because the players reportedly got the last two coaches fired?

The salty British AC is always 'leaving' so if the rumor is about the Longwood coach getting another job, that's him. Dyer will retire there when he's ready. MAYBE, if he wants the AC to get the job, he retires at a certain time of year too late to really advertise?? Speculation but happens sometimes. No question, they have underperformed in a weak conference, esp as a state school in a very good soccer state.

No idea who will head to Corvallis but what a crappy situation for the departing HC to leave their assistants in, especially the one that you just hired a few months ago.
