No inside info, but I can’t believe you can go winless in your conference for 2 years and keep that job so there’s real pressure. All the asst coaches, including her husband are changed out and she just had a 2nd child. She hired a D1 mens coach and alum to help out. UMD has plenty going for it but I would not bet on them at this point. It’s a tough business…

 

She has told recruits that she signed a 6 year contract but agee with all the above are concerns/red (orange?) flags. Definite pressure this fall to AT LEAST show some progression. She has some great recruiting classs coming in so should be on the coaching now in an increasingly competitive conference.

From the Coaches.wire, Alcorn State has made a change. Didn't see it on the last list and don't know if they plan to hire or just let the interim coach through the fall.

It feels like since Covid coaches have hit a breaking point and are saying "enough is enough" - there can only be so many drawbacks to certain schools before just literally no one of any quality is interested in the job. Bad location, low pay, underfunded, nothing to draw in recruits, poor academics - but the expectations are somehow the same as if they were consistently the opposite in all of these categories.

I think this is absolutely the kind of hire that can be expected from a school like Nichols St., and, if she's an alum and wants to stick around, it is ultimately probably a pretty good hire for them.

 

Yes, if you look at the Nicholls State long term history, except for the 2 years of 2013 and 2014 which appear to be aberrations, it looks like a program whose natural resting place is somewhere in the 300s rank area.

That's definitely a challenging situation, and not just from the soccer perspective. That had to be the worst formatted announcements on their website that I've ever seen.

That's now an entirely new staff to help Ryan keep the ship floating at UMD. You can probably cut the pressure with a knife there this season.
