The quality of players is not doubted. But coaches ? They've messed up continually since 2002.

Belsay and his selections in 2002. Pekerman and his mad omission of Zanetti. Then omitting Messi. 2010 Diego's madness. 2014 Sabella hauling off Lavezzi for Aguero in the final. 2018 chaos.

2022. What is Scaloni doing ? Pick players in form and fit. Why change tactics ?

Messi dropping deep. A midfield over run. The mind boggles.

Nothing wrong with the formation. Execution is what counts. Licht can act as a free man, long verticals. The wingback are more comfortable and help the midfield trio and open up the pitch.

Mexico will bunker so we need width and rhe need to push from the back and get either Enzo or DP come late into the box as spare men. High pressure with Toro and Alvarez and advanced WBs and force transitions.

They'll be relying heavily on Lozano and Vega so drag them the other way.

Scaloni should have adjusted right away after half-time when clearly midfield was non-existent. Instead he only subbed after we ate 2 goals at minute 60. Next sub was Acuna at minute 70 and saved last sub for xmas lol. Worst coaching performance by him.

A good team psychologist is huge. If we don’t have one, then the AFA is garbage. I’m sure we do…let’s just hope it’s a good one.

I hope so. People mock this but mental preparation us just as important. Real time analysis is also important going forward. I am concerned by Scaloni's often slow response times.

Btw a bit off thread, who watched the Brasil match, they look extremely dangerous and what avsecond goal, if Arg doesn't get it's A game it's better to lose in the first round than getting knocked out by Brasil

Believe it or not, an attacking team like that would benifit us than not. It wont be as easy for them to just attacking us like they do againts lesser opponents. They know Messi passing ability or ADM counter or long shot can put the game away from a single mistake. We saw that with France, we scored 3 goals againts the run of play. I mean that team barely able to score againts Iceland.

Argentina is known for being sh!t againts bunkering side.

-The mental prep for big nations that are aiming for the World Cup is probably the most important factor. The ability to cope with the pressure is really needed.

-Scaloni does have the capacity to make switches at half time as we've seen from the Chile WCQ match (right before the start of the Copa 21) with Ocampos and Quarta off at half time. Just think that Scaloni totally misread the situation vs Saudi Arabia and thought that everything was good with the 3 offside goals being evidence.

Brazil had Adriano, Kaka, R9, R Carlos, Ronnie etc etc in 2006. They thrashed lesser teams then out in QF. Group stage performance doesnt guarentee anything.

    Not only Brazil...

Our players look like they play in slow motion compared to any big team and our defenders look like anyone can beat them. Everyone including Messi is in shit form, how deppressing.

Honestly I hope Mexico beat us, what's the point of going through if we're gonna get dicked by France again? :(

Sorry not trolling if it got reposted, but we were also ball watching the KSA goals Romero especially, our defense is great on paper but failed against a team like KSA.
Especially in Wcups post Diego era even with t he most talented players in the World we are mentally weak, unlike Brasil with mediocre players but are mentally strong and they never failed in first round of Wcups

Agree we are bad against bunkering teams like Iceland etc, but against a highline tactic of KSA we failed especially our defense and Messi looked lost so did the midfielders, mentally we were weak and in shock after a 36 win streak and being down in second half of a wcup match by KSA. With the current defense form and current mental state and nerves of our players Brasil or Portugal could trash us

Spain 2010 & Argentina 1978 lost a game at group stage.

Portugal put 7 pass Korea years ago, the tournament ended well for them? They won Euro when they got zero win at group stage, ZERO.

Yep totally agree that's why Diego is best player ever and sorry Messi is not Diego mentally. Wish we get a separate coach to work on nerves of the players and to make them mentally strong especially during the wcups
