I finally watched the whole of the world cup final from Qatar on FIFA+, it was nice to be able to watch it without having a heart attack. What an amazing game, it wasn't hyperbole to describe this as the best world cup final ever and one of the greatest games of football ever. The drama of it, extra time was absolutely bonkers. We had to win the match 3 times, first after throwing away a 2 goal lead, then after throwing away a 3-2 lead anf then finally on pens. I can't praise the mental resiliance of the players enough, something I've accused them of lacking in the past. They could have easily crumbled when it was pulled back to 2-2 or 3-3, but they didn't lose their resolve for a moment. Have to say, Mbappe's second goal is brilliant, a lesser player would have controlled it and gotten closer to goal, he volleyed it first time. The save at the end, for me the greatest save in the history of football because of the importance of it. An incredible game of football.
Thanks to that CA victory against Brazil at their home turf. We also started the WC with a lost which makes the second game a must win. The first 60 minutes against Mexico feels like I'm watching a final. Higuain volley against Belgium in QF was alot more difficult than his miss chance in the final. Looking back at it now, Higuain probably would have escaped all the blames IF Di Maria was fit in all those 3 finals. Mbappe has yet to win his first CL & Ballon in his mid 20s, he even missed his penalty that cost France the recent Euro... however , there's no doubt the guy is made for a WC tournament. He reminds me of R9 & Klose when it comes to WC.
Mbappe has scored 12 goals in 2 world cups, including 4 in 2 finals, that is just astonishing. And he's being saying nice things about Messi recently as well. I've been watching games from previous world cups on FIFA+, and I actually forced myself to watch the 2014 final. Obviously the miss by Higuain was horrendous, but I've got to say, Messi's bondy language even before the game was horrible, he looked like a beaten man, don't know what was going on there, perhaps the pressure was too much for him, compare and contrast to his leadership last year.
I've mentioned before, the preasure was too much for Messi prior to the 2014 final. Remember that the team was nowhere as strong as the current team. You know how limited our midfield when Biglia was our main midfielder while we also rely heavily on Masche ball distribution. Aguero was injured, Di Maria was injured, Messi knew his team came into the final not at best condition. Also I dont understand sometimes why people from our own sides would make stupid comments such as Messi father sayinh "Messi's legs feels like 100 kilos"... Or Sampa saying "Messi is playing WC with revolver pointing at his head" Those were such stupid comments which only gives opponents alot more confidence when playing againts us.
From 2021-2022. 2021- Defeat the Brazucas in the final who were the defending champions and on their turf to capture the Copa America. 2022- Defeat the European Champions to lift the Finalissima. 2022- Defeat the defending World Champions in the final to hoist the World Cup. I doubt this will ever happen again.
Messi had to overcome Brazil in at least 3 trophies he won with the NT. WC u20 2005 semi final Olympics 2008 semi final Copa America 2021 semi final If Croatia lose on that shootout, we would have wiped their a$$ like we just did again recently. They're also lucky not to face us in qualifier during Sabella's time because they hosted the WC 2014.
So, I finally watched the Messi documentary. It covered the World Cup pretty well. It basically skipped over the Australia and Croatia matches. But the interviews with Enzo, Dibu, RDP, Scaloni and of course with Messi were all nicely done. It’s hard not to get choked up for the last video. Just looking at Messi who is just exhausted after the celebrations in Qatar, where he’s left everything on the pitch. There was not much left he could give. You can’t ask more from this man. He achieved the greatest prize in world sports for all of us. The way the players talked about and how they fought for him. It was something else. All in all, it was four parts, each running about 45 minutes long. So, pretty much three hours of interviews and behind the scenes footage.
Great photograph. The eyes drawn to the bright triangle of celebration, the lines made the players almost an arrow. The differing emotions so clearly exemplified.
🧠🇫🇷 Lionel Scaloni gives great insight into his decision to play Di Maria on the left to target Kounde. He explains his strategy for managing Mbappe and why he set up the team this way. pic.twitter.com/tT6KnJa9Ai— All About Argentina 🛎🇦🇷 (@AlbicelesteTalk) November 9, 2024
Clown ass Fantino keeps interrupting him. Nothing worse than an interviewer asks a questions and repeatedly interrupts the interviewee when they are answering.
