I have similar feeling everytime I rewatching the game, but then I keep reminding myself how many times we've been unlucky and losing on penalties.... 3 times in Copa final since 2000s, also losing to eventual champion Uruguay in 2011 from the spot, against Germany in 2006 after ridiculous subs by our manager... meanwhile inconsistent team like Italy won WC and Euro from the spots, Brazil won Copa 2007 by winning back to back penalties, Chlie won back to back Copa from the spot aswell... for me we're simply having our dues this time !! and by far the most deserving team!
https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/39121682/how-argentina-won-2022-world-cup-their-own-words Nice articles , lots of comments from our players from each matches. This is my fav though... "We were watching the shootout. I remember when Brazil were eliminated, we were shouting, happy, and Scaloni comes in saying, "What are you doing, you idiots? We have to play a game now!" The game with Netherlands was 10 minutes away, and we were there celebrating in the dressing room. But it was good for our morale. " Enzo Fernandez
Watched the replay for nth time , but i will always watch till 70th min and go to ET time watch till 115th miin and directly shootout. we could have easily 3-0 , we got plenty of opportunities in second half.
I was drunk, when Montiel's pen went in I took my top off and was swirling it round my head, think that took my wife by surprise. By the way, confession time, I was in the bathroom and didn't watch the pens.
I turned off the TV before the shootout begin . However my brother texted me on whatsapp after Dibu saved the second shot, and he's 90% convince we will win it. At that point my TV was still off. He then posted some celebration emoticons after France third kicker missed, so I decided to turn on the TV and I thought Paredes shot would get blocked because he kinda slip when he shoot it! Thank God Montiel penalty was smooth & perfect.
There is a podcast called "The Rewatchables" that the hosts re-watch a movie and make various comments/analysis of the movie. One of the categories is "So who won the movie?" (i.e, who is the person that gained the most from the movie, etc).. So, as far as the Mundial de Qatar, who won the WC? a year later, who is the player you are thinking about the most, which player/person gained the most from the win. For me, undoubtedly the Big Winners are; 1. Messi (cemented his legacy as the GOAT can no longer be denied) 2. Scaloni (now the most successful manager of one of the most important NT in soccer. Not bad for a 45-year old that can make TON$$$ in his future) 3. Dibu!!!! (made himself into a FUC#ING folk hero) 4. DiMaria (difficult to rank him higher, but he established himself as the most clutch Argentinean player in a Finals, ever. . . we never lose with DiMaria in a starting lineup) 5. Enzo Fernandez (only Messi made more $$$, Enzo GOT paid!!) 6. Argentina (we had something to celebrate)
Lol you guys are crazy turning off the tv during the shootout I mean, yeah, it’s a sufferable experience… but I would suffer waaay more not knowing what is going on
One thing I noticed was that Messi seemed way more emotional at the CA than he did at the Mundial. Maybe at the CA, it had to do with winning his first senior title but I was surprised how composed he was when it ended in Qatar. I mean, compare it to the rest of the players and the caching staff... como vas a grabar a pablo llorando por favor otro que se lo merecía más que nadie pic.twitter.com/4eU4cfeYkW— ludmi (@scalwt) December 18, 2023
and Aguero actually looked more ecstatic than the rest Dude retired because of heart problem but sprinted from tribune to the center of the pitch within few seconds.
I guess this must be how Higuain feels after "that" miss in 2014: Randal Kolo Muani still heartbroken over last-gasp World Cup final miss - 'It'll be there for life' - TNT Sports At least with Muani he forced Dibu to make a great save, where as Fatso shanked it hopelessely wide.
Its definetely weak mentallity with Higuain. He has rounded the goalkeeper many times , against Spain and Germany in friendlies, against Mexico in WC 2010 round 16... yet he did that in 2016 final against Chile.... he frozed and couldnt decide whether to chip or round the goalkeeper. If that's not a final, he'd easily toyed Bravo. His volley against Belgium was technically much harder than the final one. Anyway, I forgot how good Sabella team was before those injuries leading up to the WC. The passing play was very direct and straight forward unlike Pekerman team, but it worked.
Anybody watch Captains of the World Cup? Its on Netflix, and it follows teams and captains in their journey of the World Cup in Qatar. It goes from the group stages and all the way to the Final. Obviously, the last episode is dedicated completely to the Final itself. Messi among others are interviewed. You get really nice behind the scene type of videos. It is worth a watch(Only six episodes).
I did. They all feel the same. Nothing comes close to the Amazon Season One documentary. It's some basic interviews, clips of them doing stuff, montage of the game and that's it. Put some never before seen angles, dramatic voice over and music and done. I still have to watch Muchachos and Elijo Creer. There's so many of them I forget which one is which. I think I've seen Muchachos
Remember people talking about a documentary being made about Argentina and their road to the World Cup a year ago. Is it the Netflix one where they are following every Nation or is it another one?
Kinda. It covers the CA, Finalissima, the last couple of friendlies and all the way to the call-ups to Qatar. That was done really well. I know there were camera crews following the team, so, we should have extensive footage. I hope we get some other than a 2 hour movie like documentary.
