When Boadu decides to show up for big games I may change my mind. Right now he is just another player with speed. Those are a dime a dozen.

  2. He showed up against Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord.

  4. Anyway, from reports I got the impression the only one playing well was Koopmeiners, who should have been in the Orange selection, not in the Young Orange squad.
It's quite weird to see players moved to the YO selection, while a qualifier for the Orange team is played as well.
Some people donot get the first mission is to have the best in the Orange selection.
Playing YO tournements is nice, but winning it isnot a necesity. Winning qualifiers is.

    Mikos Gouka 24-03-21, 20:45 Laatste update: 24-03-21, 21:33
    TIm Krul 4,5

This is not true! Two of us posted in this forum on the match. Certainly Scherpen in goal was outstanding. Schuurs and Teze both had good matches as CBs and Bakker was decent at LB.

Even with all the mistakes made by Frank de Boer, Oranje missing some key players (van Dijk, de Vrij), and the poor form of many players - even then it should have been at least a draw if not for some bad luck (the absent VAR, Turkey scoring 4 out of 5 shots on goal).

This unfortunately has all the hallmarks of the start of the 2018 WC qualifying campaign - remember that first game in Stockholm? Even with an awful coach, we were still very unlucky not to come away with the 3 points, which would have been crucial.

Seeing as overall goal difference will once again be the key tiebreaker, I hope we don't see Frank de Boer opting for defensive tactics against Gibraltar - but then again, you never know with him

There was a moment of naïveté (complete lack of wisdom) displayed by FdB when the score was 2-3. Right after conceding two consecutive goals in a minute, Turkey were clearly rattled, and at that very moment in time, there was a genuine belief that Oranje could tie the game and grab a point, with plenty of minutes on the clock.

Oranje should have piled more pressure, and I felt that FdB should have sacrificed a defender and brought in another attacker. Stengs would have been a perfectly logical choice... but even the low-on-confidence V.d. Beek or Bergwijn might do just fine. Anybody who can help preventing Turkey getting out of the own half. But of course, the substitution never came and the exact opposite happened. Turkey came out of their shell, even worse, they scored the fourth goal. Only after that decisive Turkey goal, substitutions were made. Wijndal was taken out, replaced by a like-to-like replacement in P. Van Aanholt (who had one terribly weak shot into the GK arms). Too little, too late, and clearly the wrong substitution.

Here's the crazy part.... wounded Oranje will likely come out gun blazing against a poor Latvia side. A victory will be secured, perhaps somewhat easily - and FdB gets to brag and will live at the helmet for another day/week/month. Unchecked and without accountability. Disgusting.

The good news when you are at (or near) the bottom is that you don’t have anywhere to go but up... ;)

It’s still early days for Dest but he’s been in great form of late. With that being said, it’s only been a couple of games where he did well for Barca and one game where he really stood out.

Other than that the US played Jamaica, not really comparable to European teams.

If he manages to keep this up or even get better than he will surely have been a big miss for us.

Luck De Jong is projected to lead the attacking line today.... scary

Klaassen is also in, for De Roon.

I am predicting a simple 3-0 win. Oranje will be highly motivated. An early goal to calm the nerve, and a couple more late in second half.

I look forward to seeing Stengs and Gravenberch getting some quality minutes - they are the future!

Krul should have been sent home not pampered .
These performances need to be called out honestly by the Manager for what they are/were.
    Unacceptable.

Blind and Klaassen can pass the ball but just too slow.
    Wijndal better do something also.
Need to pick a team that is more dynamic and better athletes with speed.
    Extremely disappointed with this selection.

Blind is in because no other decent CB’s is available. Ake is not match fit, and please no Veltman!! I don’t mind Blind, he is a good distributor and Oranje won’t do a lot of defending today, I suspect, so Blind would actually be a net positive.

Klaassen... I don’t know, I am torn. He has a decent scoring record, and seems to know where he need to be. But definitely not a creator. Would have liked to see Stengs in an advanced midfielder role, and Gini drops deeper in the center. But I guess the drawback is that if you field ball-hogging Blind, Frenkie, Berghuis, Memphis and Stengs... you will never score and may indeed need two balls on pitch. :p

Not counting Weghorst, under the circumstances I think this is the best team FdB can pick. I just wish he had picked the same team against Turkey
