Boca was in a Covid crisis just a few days and Boca and CONMEBOL still decided to let their Libertadores game in Paraguay go on tonight. That scares me for the eliminatorias. I don't trust the federations that will put winning over health and I don't trust CONMEBOL who puts money over everything else
CONMEBOL calls the shots and usually has ulterior motive$ but I wonder why Paraguay allowed them into their country if it was such a bad risk? Did CONMEBOL payoff some political leaders in Paraguay so Boca can come in with such ease? Something just does not add up about that story.
If the list has to be out this weekend I doubt Arias will recover in time unless he's somehow recovered tomorrow. It varies for each person after all.
Simon has a probable lineup for mid/late 2021 - cantillo and Munoz need opportunities first. 1306681497315872772 is not a valid tweet id
I like it with Cuadrado overlapping James since James is not a true winger and Queiroz likes his wingers. Though isn't cantillo a DM? And Yairo is a LB now?
I would not mind seeing that at all assuming everyone there is in form and healthy. Although I get the feeling he strictly sees Yairo as a midfielder and would never start him over his beloved Tesillo. (Even if Yairo plays LB and Tesillo plays CB at Leon.)
I think Villus (apologies if I’m mistaken) said Cantillo is more of a DM - the little I’ve seen of Cantillo kinda/sorta reminds me of Pirlo - deep playmaker. Nevertheless I hope we can see Cantillo get involved somehow. Lerma in 2nd division does worry me slightly. Like Homie says - ironically Yairo is LB at Leon with Tesillo at CB.
Seems we have a couple of players that can fill that position between Lerma, Cantillo and Campuzano. I would rather lean towards the dudes with more offensive inclination there - as solid as Lerma is, and I think he is a solid player I feel like we play more conservative with him on field. I'd even consider Uribe there. Our guys have talent and work ethic where we can play more aggressively. I realize that CQ doesn't necessarily share that gut.
Enough about midfielders and FBs. I am very interested in seeing which 9s get called up. To me Duvan is the only automatic 100% callup (assuming he is healthy of course.) After that, the backup 9 spot is between Falcao, Morelos, Santos Borre and Cordoba. I really have no idea who Queiroz prefers. Falcao still has leadership qualities and is solid in the locker room but his skills are diminishing. Morelos and Santos Borre are young, hungry players with some encouraging moments but also head scratching moments from time to time. I think many people know I would lean towards Cordoba but he has never even trained with the Senior team and I have no idea if Queiroz wants to experiment that way. We'll find out in a few days how it all plays out.
I hear ya although Lerma did have a sweet assist against Argentina during CA19 - he’s not afraid to take the occasional shot from distance To me Uribe-Barrios-Cuadrado is the core midfield until Cantillo, Yairo, Jorman, etc get up to speed.
Is that the first time an MLS player has ever been called up by Argentina for a WCQer? Never thought I'd see that.
Sometimes I wonder. If Duvan goes get hurt, do you have Borre or Muriel play the role Teo did in Brasil and have James play closer to the box like a false 9 with more wing play from c4 and Luis Diaz.
Well when will he give out the final listing? Is it still this weekend even though he announced the preliminary list?
If this were March I would be hesitant to say Santos Borre. But he is slowly coming around and showing maybe he can play a "Teo" role as you put it with a guy like Muriel playing off of him well. But he may not even be called up at all if Morelos or even Falcao are called.
