I think that makes it hard when you play for one player. You defer to much when the smarter play may be elsewhere but you keep forcing it to THE GUY. Messi has been hampered by Argentina never having the quality of forwards they used to before he was there. Where is the new Batistuta?
Definitely feels like they're play a big part in Morocco's ability to stay... not just dangerous, but competitive in this match! This is what I want from a round of 16 game!
Derek Rae and Landon Donovan roasting Roldolfo's side-line reporting about players' shinguards was very funny.
I wonder if this is gonna be another game that unravels at the 60' mark, when Morocco start having to make subs. They aren't looking tired yet, but the Moroccan line of engagement has continued to drop deeper and deeper throughout the match...
Landon Donovan is actually a dang good commentator. Better than a lot of guys who have tried to hop in The booth
Now we're gonna see what Morocco's depth is like... 4 changes in quick succession to see out the last 6'
FT at 0-0... can Morocco take this to pens? Or maybe even strike on the counter?? So far they've bent but haven't broken, but Spain's pressure has been building steadily.
It's too bad his speaking voice is so thoroughly nasal monotone or he'd legit be a great long term answer to our announcer/commentator issues.
lol Rob Stone mentioning Ghana making the QFs in 2010 then immediately following it up by throwing out the stat that the US vs. Belgium was the last 0-0 round of 16 game did Clint dirty
Spain certainly aren't appointment viewing but maybe they'll nick this in extra time. Spain don't want the randomness of penalties.
After watching these R16 games, I'm wishing the US had set out to play quite defensively instead of trying to prove a point. The teams laying back a bit and countering seem to be more dangerous than the teams that want to possess and cycle, etc.
Respect for this defending and the tireless whistling crowd and all, but I don’t need to see another game of this. I hope Spain finds a way to win it.
Then you have others complaining that the team sits back too much. Really can't win either way. In any case, I think the Dutch scored due to dumb defensive breakdowns, especially the second and third goal. How did Ream and Robinson not communicate for the final goal? They play together daily!
