No. If Sinema ends up running, the winner will largely be dependent upon how many voters Sinema is able to attract and which candidate she pulls the most away from. The issue for Sinema is that her approval rating among Dems in AZ is at rock bottom levels, so she isn't going to pull that many votes away from the Dem candidate. However, the bigger risk is that she could become the alternate choice for Republicans who won't vote for the Maga Republican that wins that primary.

...and I received my solicitation text from Gallego.

    He's been blocked.

I may end up donating some money to his campaign, but not now and not because the f'n Democrats have sold my contact information.

And I got my first fundraising e-mail from him yesterday. He didn't waste any time on that.

edit: I see I'm not the only one.

I just got dueling fundraising texts from Adam Schiff and Katie Porter in the CA senate race. "It's the first deadline of our campaign, can you help us reach our goal?" ******** you, no, I cannot help you reach your goal.

California is big enough that it should be 3 or 4 states. All of those politicans shouldn't have to fight for just 2 seats.

The same could be said about Texas, Florida, and NY, right?

Cali has twice the population of NY and 10 million more than the closest, Texas.

So, they could be split into 2-3 states instead of 3-4 states. ;)

I've said it before, but not for a while. The concept of a "state" is obsolete. There should be subdivisions of the country with local or regional governments, but splitting the country up into arbitrary (*) chunks of varying sizes and populations and then giving each chunk equal votes in a nationwide legislative chamber with a lot of power is a bad idea. We should abolish the Senate, and it would take the electoral college with it.

(*) arbitrary, more or less - some state boundaries exist for historical reasons, some for geographic reasons, and some are just lines on a map, but the current divisions don't make sense today.

Agreed but the US has a better chance of enacting a parliamentary system than it has of getting rid of federalism.

Pelosi has endorsed Adam Schiff. That is massive.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said on Thursday she will support Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) in his California Senate bid if Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) decides to retire next year.
“If Senator Feinstein decides to seek re-election, she has my whole-hearted support. If she decides not to run, I will be supporting House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff, who knows well the nexus between a strong Democracy and a strong economy,” Pelosi said in a statement released by Schiff’s Senate campaign.

Yeah, I am unabashed about my respect for Katie Porter, but if it comes down to a choice between Porter and Adam Schiff, I would prefer Schiff in the Senate.

I agree, for the here and now. But Schiff is 62 and Porter is 49. I'd like to have Porter in the Senate to rise in the leadership ladder. Schiff would be great, but at 62 I don't want another old guy in the Senate.

Josh @tpm has a good rundown on the Sinema potential senate run in 2024.

I’ve had a few readers point me to this new Puck rundown of Kyrsten Sinema’s chances in 2024 and/or her incipient campaign. (It’s subscription-only but you can get like one free article if you really want to read it.) One reader was mystified that reporter Tara Palmeri approached the race on the assumption that Sinema holds all the cards versus national Democrats and the Senate leadership.
    So what’s my take?
    .......

If Sinema starts in very low double digits running as an incumbent that number will almost certainly go down. A decent percentage of Democrats who aren’t that plugged into politics will say they’re supporting her now because they voted for her last time. But if she’s running a distant third it will become clear that the real choice is between Gallego and Kari Lake and most of those Democrats will go to Gallego, either because he’s running as a Democrat or because they want to prevent a Lake victory.

Sinema may be able to drag Democrats down as a spoiler. But she simply doesn’t have a path to victory even if Democrats give her everything she wants. The problem isn’t D.C. powerbroker Democrats. She’s alienated too many Democrats in her own state. They can’t help her with that.

Yeah. I don't think she has any power to win the Dem nomination. Her only path is to run independent.

A three way election between a certified wingnut, and unapologetic narcissist and a sane middle of the road democrats? OMG, who should Arizonians vote for? Such a difficult choice!!!

But seriously, that’s how the MSM will frame it (not those words) and how a big chunk if the electorate will perceive it.

You presume Sinema wants to win. I'd submit what really she wants is to create havoc.

I think Josh is saying even if the Dems stood down and endorsed her independent run, Sinematic would lose to Lake anyway

Trust me.. It isn't just the Dems.. Thanks to a donation to Youngkin's campaign from a distant relative with a similar email address, I've made it on Republican email lists and *shudder* the volume I get is annoying AF.
