Some takeaways: Max is surprisingly low on the salary chart. Given that and his 5 year deal, he really is a signing for the future. Yeah we spent $1M in transfer fee, but maybe we're expecting too much out of him? Trusty and Kaye got big raises ($375K/$235K base in 2021 respectively). I wonder how much of that Trusty salary the Rapids are paying versus Arsenal. Bassett got his salary tripled and yet is arguably underpaid compared to Trusty and Kaye. Looking at what we lost people to, Badji is getting $500K in Cinci, which, good for him. Get paid. But glad we're not paying him. Kort Ford got a $10K raise from last year by going to SKC, so more and more that's looking like a fresh start and a better chance at playing time versus a monetary move. Matt Hundley is apparently still getting paid by MLS. Presumably as a homegrown his deal went through 2022 regardless of if he was still on the team or something.
Nothing outrageous, I would just be nit picking on a few. Missed this guy being "signed"- Travis Jackson
I mean… I get that GK’s are often on criminally low wages but Yarborough has saved our ass more than a few times. He’s definitely undervalued at $375K.
I said it before, but I truly believe Max is going to be like another Galvan. Super young, raw talent. Will take some time acclimating to the MLS, but once he finds his legs, he'll turn into a valuable piece of the team. I didn't expect him to come in and light it up right away, and based on his salary it appears that the FO didn't either. I couldn't find Galvan's 2020 payroll, but looks like in 2021 he was paid a base salary of $160k with a total compensation of $250k. I know we had high expectations for Galvan coming into this season before his ACL injury, but if we remember his first year for the Rapids he had a very roller-coaster season. Big highs, low lows. Sound like Max so far? It'll just take the kid some time to get going. I'm thinking Max 2023 is going to be Galvan 2022 (minus the injury of course).
I finally got around to taking a deeper look at the Rapids salary info. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2022/05/2022-salary-info.html
