So RSL gets to take out their frustrations on the Northern Colorado Hailstorm who are currently sitting 8th in the USL League One.

That means that this should be a close game that RSL takes for granted and who knows what will happen or who will play.

It's a great opportunity to get some younger players playing time which means that probably wont happen.

    So...

All of the guys who have made the bench for a regular season game should start this one save the hardship call-ups. Garcia should start up front, Besler in d-mid, probably a first choice CB duo of Silva and Jazzy. Bode Davis on a wing. Start Rubin, he needs minutes.

All USOC third round games (which this is) will be streamed on ESPN+. Woo and hoo for me (apparently the Easter Sunday meltdown didn't sour me much, if at all).

I'm looking forward to this game. RSL probably doesn't have a very good chance at the other routes to CCL, so I hope they take this tournament seriously. They have enough to win it if they do (most teams still don't seem to take it seriously until they win a game or two).
I'm all for Ochoa and Glad playing in this game, if they are ready for minutes. Do not rush them back for this game.
I'll take a WAG at the lineup tonight:
    Ochoa
    Jasper Pierre Glad Brody
    Davis Everton Besler Chang
    Garcia Rubin

That should be enough talent to win, but I struggled coming up with how the available players fit.
I have no idea if Jasper is ready, this team only has like 3 outside backs on the roster and Schmitt and Aaron need to be ready for Saturday (don't like Schmitt in the LB role, but still). Maybe Schmitt plays today and Brody starts Saturday?
I couldn't figure out an attacking player to put in a 4-3-2-1 and a 4-3-3 doesn't seem to work either.
I fully expect Garcia to have a good game and fans to be asking why he hasn't been playing.
Bench: GK, Orozco, Aaron, Reedy, Pablo, Caldwell, Schmitt, Cordova, Wood.

I got close, but I don't know where Reedy and Jasper are best at.
Back 4 with Davis and Schmitt outside?
    4 defense mids?
Still calling my shot with Garcia tonight.

Why are the academy signings not on the bench?
I don’t get why they were signed at all

Note: all 3 of the refs (I haven’t seen the 4th so can’t say) are local. That’s pretty cool

    edit: 4th is local too

It's strange, would have thought Davis would be a better winger than Reedy. Jasper looks to be the attacking mid. Everton is all over

The info I see always refers to the kids as on assignment. I haven't seen the rules, but I think they're on some kind of loan that keeps them at the Monarchs all year. Would love for someone to clarify this.

That would be moronic given they occupy roster spots
Or if they don’t it’s moronic that fall isn’t filling them

    4 D-mids...
(I know that's not really accurate, just trying to reinforce your point)

I still don’t know what to make of a 24 year old draft pick being this important to the team just months after joining

They might want to sign the other one (Fonseca?). He has 3 goals so far.

Ruiz, Brody, Chang and Cordova should be able to score multiple goals if given some time. When will we see subs tonight?

I missed the first half due to a long day at work, and I'm okay with that given how boring these ten minutes have been.

    Reedy is pretty, pretty lousy.

3 of the better players off. Not so conducive to winning. I'm sure they are on a minutes restriction.

9 minutes of stoppage time gives RSL a chance. Feels wrong that I have to type that.

A 6-0 drubbing followed immediately by a loss to a d-3 team (also scoreless and only one good chance) is one heck of a week.

So this team finds itself in likely its worst form in a number of years. Think maybe it’s time for the new ownership group to shit or get of the pot.
