The silence on this front is deafening. We haven't even gotten a faux update from that notorious lying sack of dog puke Dwayne Rollins, for whom an Applebee's waitress would be a real jump in source quality. ( Which means there aren't even any flimsy, groundless rumors circulating on Canadaite message boards, since that's where he gets all his info) I tend to think something has been arranged and.theyre working out the deal. Particularly if it's Nancy, that means Montreal has to get a search going as well. The sticking point may well be the ransom Saputo will want. That kind of negotiation can be tricky and contentious. OTOH if it was Courtois there's no reason they wouldn't have announced already. Anybody else, well, it would seem very odd that there have been zero rumors.
I thought Nancy was out of contract? Supposedly the team had an option for a specified price for 2023 but it apparently also required Nancy's approval to exercise and he declined. So why would we have to give Montreal compensation if he's coming here?
I'm sure they do if they think they can get something out of it from the Crew but supposedly they didn't want Nancy back after he and Saputo clashed.
Seconded! Plus.. and I'm just reading body language and facial expressions (which can be misleading and I typically loathe when people read too much into such things), but... the guy just looks like gets it.
Should we now also turn our attention to the Saudi coach Herve Renard? Hot damn that was something unexpected. He'd certainly be the most handsome coach in the league. The soccer moms would surely swoon over him.
I'm pretty sure it'll end up being Nancy. Doesn't really do anything for me. I think I'd prefer Courtois over him.
We’ve had two coaches in the last 9 years. That’s unusual for big clubs. Nancy, or whoever, has two seasons to be successful. If not, he’s out and we move on to the next. When the players’ value starts to outweigh the ability to attract new coaches you have to follow the money.
I've been happy with what I'm reading about him, particularly from players, who really love playing for him. One guy said that the two-way communication is unbelieveable and that he values your contributions. Another guy said he loves the way he makes changes to tactics depending on the opponent rather than the typical stubborn " we play our game" style ( which Caleb certainly subscribed to) He's also got a phenomenal track record for developing and playing young guys and turning them into stars. Unfortunately they mostly then get European offers but that's the deal. Curtin has built a monster in Philly with that approach, and Saputo is nuts to have alienated the guy to the point that he wants out. Nancy made Joey a lot of money in transfer fees but the owner needs to have his fat ass kissed far too much. Haslam on the other hand will kiss HIS ass if he can just win.
I'm excited, but I feel he may be moving to Europe soon too. Big changes are needed rosterwise. Not sure where Diaz fits, and Matan may return to the squad. Nancy played with a 8/10 hybrid and a second striker in his system.
I thought I saw Matan had been picked up by Bucharesti for another year. There's been nothing from the Crew on it obviously but that might not be surprising. However that may be, the Crew has cleared a ton of salary budget space since the end of the season. I'm not clever enough to figure out what the number is but it's a nice chunk of change to go shopping with.
His option was not picked up according to this person who paid for twitter Alex Mățan will return to #crew96 in January after a loan spell with Rapid Bucharest in the Romanian top tier.— Emanuel Roşu (@Emishor) November 1, 2022 He has been injured apparently.
From August 10. Sure looks like a signing. https://www.instagram.com/p/ChFaKXlND_Q/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I saw that when I followed him, but even loan signings require a contract. Naas is reporting that the Crew paid his whole salary for his three months there.
What we've all been waiting for: barring any last minute complications, Wilfried Nancy will be named the next Head Coach of #Crew96, I'm told. pic.twitter.com/ugYwxpNMD5— Crewrhino (@thecrewrhino) November 26, 2022
