    Welcome back Nelson Bonilla.

Surprised to see the omissions of both Tomas Romero and Christian Martinez.

Two USL League One players have been called up, Nelson Blanco and debutante Nelson Martinez of North Carolina FC.

He has no idea on Christian omission though.

Now it makes sense as to why Romero wasn’t called up. He needs to keep his place at LAFC. We’re in good hands with Mario Gonzalez either way.

I’m pleased to see Michael Mercado is undergoing the process towards naturalisation.

Anthony Ramirez of Philadelphia Union, and Darrel Turcios of FC Cincinnati are both new names to me.

Alejandro Canó has been previously called up to Selecta last year, and Nathan Ordaz recently participated in the open trails held in LA.

Now he does. The call-up list is subject to change and Martinez wasn’t initially given permission from his club.

Um yes and no, Alianza Petrolero did have a bounce back seasons and made it to the Championship Round Robin. Unless you are talking coming out last in that group then yes.

I stand corrected. It was Apertura 2021 where Alianza Petrolera came last.

I might not post much on the abroad thread (I know I should be more active in that spot) but I still try to keep up as much as I can.

In the case of Gil, I'm not actively paying attention to his career (aside from progress with the NT) until I see him in a Selecta jersey.

Think Hugo did something really smart though. Having the team a full week/week and a half in the cold to get them SOME sort of acclimation is good. While i don’t expect to beat the US, i wanna use the rest of this octagonal to have some of our players go abroad to good teams. (Having Jairo in Galaxy or chicho in MLS and stuff like that will give us a huge boost for the future)

He’s already cap tied, also they can trace his bloodline to being Salvadoran so it’s a non issue. Honestly this will help him have much easier time in Europe if he wants to find a club to play for.

In terms of football, having Italian citizenship will give him more opportunities to play in Europe as he will no longer take up a non-EU player spot.

As youth players, Joshua Perez, Junior Flores and Ronald Arevalo all couldn't play for Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund or HB Koge respectively until they turned 18 because they were all non-EU players.

Many are saying Monterrosa is the other player who tested positive.

How many players are we missing for this match?

    Amando Moreno (ACL injury)
    Eriq Zavaleta (foot injury)
Ronald Rodriguez (undergoing passport paperwork with FC Tulsa)
    Joshua Perez (obtaining Italian citizenship)
    Christian Martinez (COVID-19 positive)

    Who else?

Monterrosa also out due to positive COVID test. Martinez finally got a negative result so he will join the team for the other games.

The commentator shouted our very own Hugo Alvarado of SelectaTalent. We love to see it.
