Depends how popular the GK is. Frei is extremely popular in Seattle and had a replica gk shirt for sale. Not sure anymore tho as I haven’t been in the team store for some time.
Last season, the San Jose Earthquakes had the MLS logo on the left sleeve and the PayPal logo on the right sleeve. This season thus far, the Earthquakes have the MLS logo on both sleeves. -G
Likewise during the Tim Howard era you could easily get a goalkeeper kit in the Rapids team shop, but I'm not sure I've seen one since.
Apparently Chicago wants to sell Slonina jerseys but adidas's supply chains have prevented that. Possibly later this year.
The kit rundown for this weekend shows the Parley kits: https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/kit-matchups-what-your-club-is-wearing-for-mls-week-14 And they are on the MLS store online: https://www.mlsstore.com/jerseys/d-47221982+z-9744807-1425885315
I know someone's explained this to me before, but I need a repeat. I just don't get every team in the league wearing the same thing. Something about recycling? The ocean? Clearly whatever it is is failing to be sold to me.
The league is trying to raise awareness about ocean pollution. The jerseys are made from recycled plastic that was collected from the sea. The idea behind every team wearing the same kits is to make it more noticeable. If each team wore their own colors it would not make as much of an impression.
Is the shirt also recycleable?? (is that a word?) because otherwise it is more polution just to have a shirt for a handful of games
No, but the point of this kit is to draw focus on the oceans as these are made from plastic pulled directly from the ocean an recycled into these jerseys and shorts. For a fully recycled jersey you need to go to Puma: PUMA® - RE:JERSEY
1. Using recovered plastic is removing plastic from the ocean. That's a good thing. 2. It uses less energy to make things from existing material as opposed to new raw materials. So that's a plus. 3. Parley says that the clothing made from recycled plastic can be recycled into other things. I personally have bought the last couple of these and I wear them a lot. None of them have wound up back in the ocean. So far, I guess. Do you mean for the players? I don't know what the life-cycle is for player jerseys. How often they wear a particular one? What happens to them? At least these were made from plastic that isn't in the ocean any more.
Serious question, the reason they can't make all jersey's this way is because you can't do vibrant colors, is that right?
All adidas jersey are already made of 100% recycled materials. These Primeblue ones are just made of a specific yarn that is made out of plastic pulled out of the ocean. In a broad sense they already are, but there is only so much yarn made form plastics pulled out of the ocean. I don't know if that's the info you're looking for but that's why this primeblue week is "special".
That pretty much answers it, and makes feel better about it. Thank you. Does ocean plastic have something to do with the black and white nature to these jerseys?
I believe thecolors are because those are Parley's colors and it is part of their sponsorship. If you go to Parley's online shop, they have a wide assortment of colors for their non-apparel items.
No. It can be any color. It's more to make it easier to change the entire league out for 1 weekend worth of games and not have club(s) just get another kit in their same Club colors. They are meant to stand out and draw attention to pulling plastic out of the oceans.

I like it better because it actually has some sort of identity to the past but I'm not a fan of that shield within the circle.
I mean, I wish they would’ve found a way to incorporate at least one snowflake and not have a roundel, but it’s a good looking logo that incorporates their past without regressing back to the Impact name, so I’m a fan.
Yeesh- the ones on the blue/purple jerseys are only slightly better. I feel bad for the announcers tonight.
The "Parley" jerseys were an utter communications failure by MLS due to the lacking of anything even vaguely resembling an accompanying informational campaign. The concept behind the jerseys was not mentioned anywhere in the media, nor by game announcers. Heck, there isn't even anything on the MLS website. It's almost as if MLS decided to make everyone wear identical jerseys with unreadable numbers but not tell anyone why.....
