It’s a great PBP thread title to look at.

    Flight prices are ridiculous.

If your credit card has Singapore Airlines as a partner, you can get a round trip flight for only 28,000 miles out of EWR-Newark using their partner airline mile redemption. (Equivalent of $280)

I considered doing this, but I went with Jet Blue instead. The timing didn't line up for me.

If you're attending the match, and standing/sitting on the East Side (Sections 108-118/Sections 208-217), I strongly recommend wearing a hat and sunglasses.

Not sure why, but the stadium/natural sunlight is extremely bright inside the stadium. And with it being a day game, you'll probably be in the sun the entire match.

I didn't know that you were still around. We "met" years ago on the old Soccer America Graffiti" site about 22 years ago.

We're proud of our team, our head coach, and the fact we didn't circumvent the rules to win.

I've only rarely shown my face around here after....well, after being the face of the site along with Bill Archer, and pretty much failing to make huge money for everyone/anyone.

As a fan of a team with a long, proud history of stretching rules like Mr. Fantastic's socks, LAFC could at least have had the dignity to change the rules they were breaking as they broke them, the way we did. It's what separates us from the Inter Miamis of the world.

Want to know how little respect MLS gets in the sporting world. A notice went out to fans attending the MLS Cup that there would be limited parking due to the USC football game going on next door! Sucks that USC would not just up and move their game to a later night game. No respect at all for MLS! I know this happens, but still.

Anyway, I know this is early, but are there any plans for a parade/celebration if the Union do win? I mean when they win!

Wait, we benefited from Inter breaking the rules.

Well....if it were any other league in the World the final would be in Chester. Goal Differential is the first tiebreaker in most leagues.....not MLS...

Not sure if everyone saw, but the Union cancelled a large amount of MLS Cup Ticket Sales yesterday (11/01/2022), including the solo ticket I bought for myself.

Going off of other comments from Reddit, FB, etc. it seems like they cancelled all sales for people that listed addresses outside of Philly and Chester, which is lol funny.

I sent them an email and called them, but no response. In desperation, I just bought the Philly Sports Trip ticket and tailgate package instead, even though I wasn't interested in spending $125 for a tailgate.

    https://phillysportstrips.com/trips/mlscup/

But this sequence reminds me of "That' So Union." Cancel everyones ticket sales that bought outside of Philly and Chester with no explanation and no response.

Has anybody who bought the $120 tickets actually received them? (and apologies to those who had their purchase cancelled - ridiculous!). I'm hesitant to get on a plane to LA without having tickets in hand!

It was asked on Facebook where fans wanted to watch the match and 99% said Subaru Park.

JP and Danny will be in LA doing a special radio broadcast of the game that the Union are streaming on their website. Glad the Union are giving JP one final send off before the Apple deal starts.

Interesting article in this week's On Soccer with Rory Smith (NY Times Subscrber only)

"For the neutral, there is almost no choice to make. The plotline of this weekend’s M.L.S. Cup final is so simple and familiar that the marketing spiel, presumably, writes itself. On one side, there stands Goliath, the empire, the rich and the glamorous and the powerful. On the other, lies David, the plucky rebels, the homespun and the threadbare and the unassuming."...
"The Philadelphia Union fulfill that role almost too perfectly, an underdog straight from central casting. This is a club, after all, that runs on one of the lowest operating budgets in the league but has managed, over three seasons, to pick up the Supporters’ Shield — given to the team with the best regular-season record — miss out on a conference title thanks, in part, to an outbreak of Covid, and then come back to make its first final."...
" Its story stands as proof that anyone can win, if only they have enough patience, and conviction, and imagination. The Union are as close to the Mighty Ducks as possible without employing actual children."...
"What this edition of the M.L.S. Cup, like most of the previous editions, proves is that there is not one single method that teams must adopt in order to succeed, but that there are many routes to triumph. The outcome of a single game, one that can rest on a slip or a moment of wonder, does not change that. The rebels have a chance, and so does the empire."

Just a quick plug here if you don't already know. NY Times and The Athletic (which NYTimes bought) have some excellent soccer coverage behind their paywall. I had long thought of subscribing to The Athletic but when I found I could get it along with NYTimes I joined up. Happy to pay a little for this service along with a few $/mo to PSP thru Paetron and its less per year than a few beers at Subaru Park.

Final predictions? Quote and reply if you would please.

LAFC 1 - Union 4 (Garber gets an aneurysm - doesn't rupture, just needs close medical follow up and instructions not to get too excited ever again, retires due to medical reasons)
(The word "Brujo" becomes the official Spanish translation of "Jawn")
