Ok, not much else going on at the moment so I will give it a go. So far RSL has a perfect record when I start the thread of either Winning, Drawing, or Losing so I'm pretty confident that trend will continue. Not much to see with SJ so far this season other than finally ditching their coach so they can go back to playing soccer and stuff instead of what they were playing. New coach, new style of play, a couple weeks to regroup, and perhaps we see the best from SJ in this game. The same could be said for RSL with Sava, and Luna. Give them some time to integrate and maybe we see a new/different RSL after some time to congeal. "Damnit Jim, he put my stuff in jell-o again!" RSL 3-1 as always.
I doubt Luna starts but hopefully Sava can start against SJE. I would like to see more of Luna though. Give him the start over Wood ffs. Also does anyone know what teams do over the break? Dunny on the broadcast was saying they use to call them "Vacation breaks" or something. So is RSL actually practicing through the break or is it the same amount of practice they normally get between games just spread out over 2 weeks.
Re what teams do over break, the whole Rapids 2 lineup last night was made up of first team players - not all MLS starters but many are: Yarbrough, Aboubakar, Barrios, Zardes, and more plus others cam off the bench.
Typically depends on the state of the team. With rsl having done relatively well, they were likely given a week or so off from training completely for the first team. Doesn’t mean guys can’t stick around if they want, but they aren’t expected to be there. On the flip side: if a team is doing bad (see crapids) then they might be required to stay in town to iron things out / improve
So, no Aaron on Saturday. Does Brody shift to the right? Kablan starts on the left? Do we see a 3 man backline? I think everyone but Damir is available. Speaking of Kablan, doesn't he have like two different loan extension options? As in the team can cancel it this summer? Rubio had two goals (apparently should have had more) with his new international debut. Should he be getting the start? Does Sava get the start? This team has so many players and some clear upgrades of late. With the extended break, does Pablo implement anything new? With Damir being unlikely this year (might be back for the last ~6 games of the season plus playoffs), do you shift the tactics/approach?
Pablo is going 442/4222 that pivots to 424 until we shit the bed And even then… nyc I think you see this: Cordova Wood Meram Ruiz Loeffelsend Sava Kablan Glad Silva Brody MacMath
I think there's only about 20 guys available. Joni might be healthy, Julio is available. Damir, Farnsworth and Halsey are injured. There are 8 guys on assignment with the Monarchs. Then Luna, Ochoa and Orozco are on international duty. Rubio initially wasn't going to be available, but apparently now he is. Ochoa was at the game on Wednesday, so? This is all according to Twitter.
We shall slaughter your team mercilessly and their entrails shall be strewn across the goals like streamers in celebration. Or not.
I hate to break it to you, but streamers are banned at the stadium so you'd just get fined for doing that.
BTW, Justen Glad's dad imitating his son's old man goal celebration dance is gold (see the team's Father's Day social media tweet/video).
Bad timing for Kablan, who could have gotten his first start. Here's hoping instead that Tate Schmitt has picked up some savvy since the NYCFC game. Lively first ten from RSL.
