Eh. After the first KO round, it became less fun. I was sceptical of conspiracies at first, but after all games have been played out…this feels like a private PSG cup.
Hate the fact that the scumbag Qataris hosted the controversial WC, but it was a fun one to have witnessed to say the least (All of our matches especially), and the finals was imo the best WC finals ever to put a closure to the tournament. Also, haters gonna hate but Messi is the best player ever, and somewhere Ronaldo is crying . Also, don't sleep on Mbappe, he's the next best thing after Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, Zidane, Klose, Messi etc.
Messi has equaled Maradona’s WC success. But regardless of this, he’s not a model sportsperson. Being short in height is one thing, but Messi is a midget in his head, having no confidence in his team or even himself, at times. A real GOAT would never agree to be gifted penalties to shoot. This way, Messi is just mildly above Ronaldo and Neymar as a person. Son might never win a big trophy, but he is the hero of all us who value honest, good people. I respect him more than some players of Croatia. He is the embodiment of what I love about Koreans.
Well, some video I was recommended on Youtube has compared the stats of Messi, C. Ronaldo, Maradona and Pele. Pele has the best stats, outwith titles won (this is where Messi beats him). Pele has had scandalous comments in his old age, but Messi is no saint on, or off the field. I get that winning stuff is nice, but neither Messi, nor the Argentinian NT players are worthy of admiration. I'm a weirdo for putting personal integrity above footballing ability. But that is part of why I respect Koreans as people.
The fact that we've been conditioned to display a conservative and humble nature as a society does not mean that we are any different behind closed doors or within our own minds.
Considering how shitty ppl's behaviors have been in Korea, can't say we are better than any other cultures. Our 국민성 is terrible.
Fair enough. I am outwardly calm and polite, even though I have moments when evil overtakes me inside. I want to kill people. But Ronaldo, for example, cannot ever control himself. He's so egotistical this planet can't contain him. Messi is a bit more sophisticated, but his nature surfaces at times, when sufficient pressure or even triumph affects him. Korean footballers behave with way more dignity. They understand what team effort is. Son, with the mask on, played his part. He lead the fateful counter, but didn't go for glory. He assisted. Even when not at 100%, he found a way to make this Korean WC appearance a success- better than 4 years ago. By giving the spotlight to HHC. The phrase 우리 나라 describes everything. My eternal respect to this spirit that resides within Koreans. And why I cheer for Korea, not Argentina. Being humble is good- no man can live alone or do everything alone.
And they shouldn't. I'm not a fan of the typical celebrity personality in any case. In team sports, the feeling of entitlement is dangerous. Messi demanded a certain Jorge Sampaoli be installed as Argentina's manager, 5-6 years ago. That ended in failure. Ronaldo was goal-hungry and demanded he play against Korea. He ended up assisting KYG. Neymar prepared dances for the eventual win against Croatia. It was Orsha who had joy, on the match day. He's a humble person, but I'm sure living in Korea reinforced any positive trait he's already possessed. Messi did win, but it has to be said that Argentina broke the WC record for penalties awarded. I suppose the loss to Saudi Arabia was the humbling they needed. Croatia, from 2018 to now, have often played with true team spirit. Although, a humbling is often required. A traditional flaw of my people is underestimating opposition when things are going well. Also, any unity in sports does not affect politics, economy... That's why Korea is a better place to live. Despite high suicide rates.
