US visa processing in 2022 should be slower than it was in 2003. FIFA switched the 2003 WWC from China to USA on 05/26/2003, almost 4 months before the tournament started on 09/23/2003. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup#Host_selection_and_change 2022 u17 WWC is scheduled to open 7 weeks from today: 10/11/2022. No way US visas will be ready so quickly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_U-17_Women's_World_Cup#Group_A I venture to say that USA is a foregone option for 2022 u17 WWC. Don't get too upset if FIFA gives it to one of those *backwards* countries that you appreciate so much.
I don't understand the "football tournaments should be hosted by rich countries only" mentality. Football is a universal sport. And if none of the rich want to host the tournaments, just cancel them?
Me either. The U-17 tournament, for both men's and women's, have usually been hosted in countries that are still developing on the soccer world stage (or at least this has always been the case for the girls' tournament and is often the case for the boys'). It usually goes to countries that will never (or have a rare chance) to host the senior tournaments. And for U-17, it really doesn't matter. The u-20 tournament is the premier youth tournament for both men and women. The u-17 tournament is a chance for players to develop but there are a ton of U-17 players who will never make it to the senior level and vice versa. It's just as much about developing soccer in these smaller countries because when these tournaments comes to the country, it's not just about the players who are there. It's usually accompanied by FIFA clinics and other events that further help develop the sport. The tournament doesn't need to go just to countries that have already hosted (and will host again). What does that do for developing the sport elsewhere?
We haven't heard from FIFA so presumably they're watching what's going on in India. So, updates on what's happening with AIFF: The Supreme Court has terminated the mandate for a committee of administrators in order to facilitate still holding the tournament. AIFF has started the process of holding elections. Basically, elections will begin next week. New AIFF election timeline ⤵️ :Aug 25-27: Nomination submissions 📝Aug 28: Scrutiny 🔍Aug 29-30: Withdrawal ❗Sept 2: Elections 🗳️Sept 2-3: Results 📋— Indian (@Abhi59661066) August 24, 2022 And this ESPN article speculates that with the actions that the SC and AIFF are taking, the tournament will likely still be held in India. It's just speculation, but since there's been no other rumors about a different host, I'd say it's probably true: if AIFF has these elections, the suspension will probably be lifted. More importantly, this ESPN article talks about why this tournament is important for India's U17 WNT and for the development of woso in India. On the flip side, there's an argument that if the SC hadn't taken this step and hadn't moved so quickly to keep the tournament, there would have been a better chance for cleaning out some corruption and bringing reform in AIFF (what the original ruling by the SC was intended to do). Basically, I think the choice was better for woso's development in India, and helps India save face if they get to host, but probably worse for Indian football as a whole overall.
You're showing your bias. "Poor control of their people or their economy" or a lack of tournament safety or structure has nothing to do with why India may not host this tournament. It is about corruption in the federation, which led to the government interference. It's the direct government interference that brought the hammer down from FIFA. And I'm not sure there's not some of that in the top-tier federations as well. They're just not as likely to be punished for it by FIFA. Also I'll add this other article on the SC ruling, that I mentioned above and which explains a bit more of what's going on: https://sportstar.thehindu.com/foot...-host-women-u17-world-cup/article65796985.ece
India's ban/suspension was just lifted. The U-17 WWC will go on as planned, in India , with India participating.

Some renovation from the Conmebol U17 champ team. Interesting to note that Lara Dantas which used to play for IMG Florida was signed by corinthians. Juju (Juliana) Harris was called by US 15 in the past. Interesting to see Brazil going after Brazilians players living in the US. Our WoSo program can't afford to lose talent to the US.
For those wondering how to watch in the US: All of the matches of the tournament will be broadcast on either Fox Soccer Plus or FS2. USA Matches
Interesting to note that Marocco has only 5 players domestic players; Mexico has 8 players from USA; Brazil has one player from USA. The rest of the teams have domestic players.
