Morita criticised Moriyasu after the 2023 Asian cup loss. Since then maybe Moriyasu was looking to remove Morita from the squad so that's what some people think

If that is his logic Suzuki and Itakura should be nowhere to be seen also.

People keep bringing that up, forgetting Morita played for Japan in WCQ after the Asia Cup. Why would Moriyasu suddenly get pissed at him? In fact Moriyasu listened to Morita's constructive criticism and brought in guys like Hasebe to help out as coaches.
I think Moriyasu just sees him as an all-rounder. Not as defensive as Endo/Sano but not as offensive as Kamada/Tanaka. So he probably doesn't know how to use him properly. (and the whole team is set up for quick transitions, not possession style)

Looking at the timeline it's exactly once Moriyasu started calling up Sano again. He hasn't called him up since. Seems to think with Sano, no need for Morita. He had little injuries here and there, so we all thought it was because of this when he wasn't called up last autumn, but when he didn't call him up for England... seemed very very likely that Morita wasn't in Moriyasu's plan anymore. He probably just thinks Sano is better and then there's no need for Morita anymore.

Sano is better no doubt. He is even better then Endo prime. BUT Morita is also awesome. Bullshit to let him at home.

But you're right, that was a big hint, it seems.

Endo does not really had much game time recently, same goes for Tomiyasu and Hiroki Ito. Even Itakura misses games here and there. Morita and Sano had consistent game time this season, not sure why they weren't picked. Nagatomo can join the coaching team, rather than occupy 1 spot too.

Ito has way enough game time. 5 games in a row for Bayern at the end of the season as something like a starter said all. He is full in the juice. Yeah Morita and Kodai Sano...don't get it. But we still have the hope Endo and maybe Yuito Suzuki, Itakura or Tomiyasu don't get fit. You can replace any player with injuries 24 hours before the game. Maybe somebody has a injury backfall or so. There is a little chance.

Yeah its not the same case as Endo etc. But in the important games, Ito rides the bench. Yesterday also.

I still feel sorry for Morita.

Yesterday was a special thing. They take farewell to players like Goretzka etc. it's also okay to gave Ito a rest, it's not like he couldn't injury himself again.

And yeah in the important Champions League games etc, he was not starting lately but that's clear cause in the time he was injured Tah and Upamecano are delivering, so why change it ? Even if Ito was the best CB in the world it would be unfair to change a winning team.

And to be fair, directly after his injury come back he was starting also some important games like in the league against Leipzig.

Now it's get interesting. Mourinho is back at Madrid and he often told before, he loves Morita. Now after sources Mourinho said (when true), he is one of his main goals for a transfer and that contact already is running.
Would be so crazy if he signs and get not nominated for the WC.
