In good news, he'll likely be on the supplemental roster so technically we still have a senior roster spot... But I'll believe it's filled when it happens.
So, is rindov the first superdraft pick we've offered a contract to since G. Smith? Also, this means we now have one spot open, so i am guessing the first round pick or a CB? I really hope it's a CB
First draft pick signed sin Dick/Smith in 2018. First non-first round pick signed since James Ansu Rogers in 2015.
This all but confirms Peter is going to roll out a 3-5-2 employing all three left backs as the back 3 with Agada and Pulido in front. The middle 5 depends on the day. Historians will write about this system for years to come.
Back to 3 healthy CBs... https://www.sportingkc.com/news/spo...ne-ford-undergoes-successful-achilles-surgery
Our week one lineup? Pulido Agada Salloi Thommy Russell Radoja Walter Leibold Fontas Ford (I posted this and saw he's done, so Zusi) Pulskamp I know, LukeD is correct, we will come out in a 4-3-3, but it would be cool if we went all super secret camp mode because we were changing things up, a lot. sigh
Fuyck me. I really hate that we were right about this kind of crap, but at least one CB injury of this magnitude was completely predictable.
Okay, so learn a lesson, Season long injury list, right now. get some cap space back and free up a spot. And sign a legit starter. you know, as mentioned earlier, this is the sort of thing a 33 year old but Best 11 level talent would be perfect for.
Thing is, unless he moved to the senior roster this year it's only a supplemental roster spot, he was on a supplemental spot last year.
Terrible news for a nice young man and good player. This must have happened in training or a preseason game? This is a one year return injury. He's not coming back in 2023.
Report from Sperry with the Star is the RSL game. Per the recap of the game he came on in the 60th and subbed back out in the 73rd, my assumption when I saw that was just precautionary, obviously it wasn't.
Awful news. Too many injuries in the modern game. ACLs and achilles are the worst. Feel bad for the young man. He's worked hard to get here.
I don't know how MLS works this, he's 27, can a 27 year old be supplimental? It really does suck for him. He was making progress and had a chance to make a long term home with SKC. His contract expires in December, so it's likely he will be unattached and returning from a horrible injury heading into 2024. Edit to add: we also have an option year, but coming off this, I can't imagine we use it.
Yeah I was reading an article, I think about women's soccer, the other day about the fight between national team and club team. Now obviously Ford wasn't on the radar for the USMNT, but with the continued expansion of the games national teams play, this just feels like it'll happen more and more. I mean we saw with COVID that teams "can" play 3 games in an international window if they can call up more players. What are the odds FIFA allows that going forward?
While it was a joke before the horrible injury news, it's now pretty much the only realistic way to approach 2023: a 3 man back line where we count on Leibold and Sweat or Zusi or Pierre or Logan on either side of fontas. Upside, 3 man back line protects Zusi from the constant running he can no longer do. Downside, it means he just a defender and he is not a good defender.
For SKC, this means the weakest link positional group just lost a starter for the entire season. The replacement is Voloder who played in a whole 12 games last year and never really looked convincing. Backing up Voloder and the worlds slowest soccer player is a college kid that wasn't even a first round draft choice. This isn't going well.
A three man back line is 3 CBs, not two outside backs that like to get forward and the worlds slowest soccer player in between them. The team only has 3 CBs. Probably not the best path forwards.
