I realize the 2022 season is not yet over, but there are rumors out there of players coming and going. Here's one to get it started. https://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-...o-free-transfer-amid-lack-of-interest-sources Man UTD is rumored to be allowing CR7 to leave in January on a free, due to lack of interest. Inter Miami and Beckham have to make a hard run at him right? I get that he's closer to 40 than 30, however, he'd still score goals in MLS. He'll be in shape too.
At half-million Euro per week, it would have to be a loan, with ManU still paying a significant portion of his salary. But I agree, MIA would have to be the front-runner.
I have seen that the Quakes are interested...let me find my notes...Ah yes, nobody...another offseason of futility!
He could be good but the first time an MLS coach doesn’t start him he’d probably just leave the country.
As your name suggests, I actually think Ronaldo would be better for the Galaxy. If only they can buy out Cabral and find a loan, mutually terminate the contract or out right sell Costa, LAG can potentially be a contender for the Cup if they work around Ronaldo.
Only reason a coach won't start him is because he is injured. There isn't enough depth nor talent like him to compete against him for his spot.
While it's a crazy dream for this to happen, I have a sneaking suspicion that Chicago has become a place where good soccer players go to die. Not literally of course, but the skill level seems to be greatly diminished after they get a couple of Fire games under their belt. It never used to be that way, but now...
He’s also going to be 38 and possibly already has shown signs he’s not holding up as well as a Zlatan at that age. No guarantee he’ll navigate the rigors of an MLS season without some strategic handling of his playing time.
Would not be a shock. Ronaldo has mentioned being open to the possibility of a Stateside move at various times over the past decade and a half.
Don't know how true this might be. Orlando might just be getting a record transfer fee. Orlando City’s Facundo Torres is nearing a move to Premier League leaders Arsenal, according to @Buggiano1. The 22-year-old Uruguayan winger provided 9 goals and 8 assists in his first MLS season with Orlando, and negotiations will advance this week. #OrlandoCity #MLS pic.twitter.com/Wh0d1pHMAZ— MLS NETWORK (@mlsnetwork) October 30, 2022
Big rumour this morning from David Ornstein at The Athletic... 🚨 Inter Miami increasingly confident of signing Lionel Messi. Not fully agreed but #InterMiamiCF now expect 35yo to join & hope it gets done in coming months. St. Louis CITY trade for Jared Stroud from Austin FC By MLSsoccer staff Monday, Nov 7, 2022, 04:35 PM
There are some pretty interesting names available for St. Louis to go after in the Expansion Draft Friday. I was surprised to see Drew Moor of the Rapids and Shea Salinas of the Earthquakes on Colorado's and San Jose's list of unprotected players. I thought both guys were retiring after the 2022 season?
That's why they aren't protecting them. You can select players for their MLS rights, like when Portland took Robbie Findley even though he had already signed for Nottingham Forest. RSL then had to trade them for the right to sign him when he came back. You could talk someone into coming back from retirement I imagine. Players have done it before, albeit rarely.
I'd love to see St. Louis go for Andre Shinyashiki. I thought he did OK when he was at Colorado, but he seemed to make more of an impact with Charlotte this year, so I was surprised to see him on the unprotected list. According to Tom Bogert's article at MLSsoccer.com, he's got a high price tag on him, but I think it's worth taking him so you can at least say you've got the player with the coolest surname in MLS!
Thank you, Derrick 💙🤍💛#LAGalaxy acquire $180k in 2024 GAM from @dcunited in exchange for defender Derrick Williams.— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) November 10, 2022
St. Louis City's expansion draft picks were as follows: --Nicholas Gioacchini (F) 22, from Orlando --Indiana Vassilev (MF) 21, from Miami --Jonathan Bell (D) 25, from New England --John Nelson (D) 24, from Cincinnati --Jake Lacava (F) 21, from New York Red Bulls Youth being served with these selections. Will they stay with City or be used as potential trade bait?
And BOOM goes the dynamite! Lacava is traded to Inter Miami. STL City acquires Tim Parker from Houston.
Report out of the Netherlands backs up what I've been expecting, that the Rapids are going to exercise the termination clause in Cole Bassett's loan to Fortuna Sittard due to his lack of playing time https://www.taylordailypress.net/feyenoord-return-early-to-us/
