Add Alabama AM to open. Coach was let go this week I was told by a recruit. Didn't know if was true. Went to website, name removed from roster. Go to staff directory says vacant for soccer coach, TBD. https://aamusports.com/staff-directory

Reason for being let go? Can’t imagine that’s a desirable job

Marist it seems is open every two years. Has had what, 4-5 coaching changes the last decade after this search concludes? Sheesh.

    Why is that?
I would assume they are not super well funded or is it hard to recruit to?
I am sure there will be plenty of interest, they just have to get the right person to move the needle up, I am sure those kinds exist.

Nice campus. Solid academics. Not well funded. Low pay. Revolving door of coaches due to a meddling AD. Anytime there is this much turnover, it is a huge red flag. Especially in this climate. Run. Do not walk. Away from this job.

I can't remember. Were people mocking the UCLA hire? It's easy to win a natty tho

It took someone about 5 minutes to get self righteous! That’s pretty slow reaction time really

UCLA will now have to double her salary to keep her which is the ironic part. I think it’s Cromwell who’s kicking herself as she has no job and legal problems actually Not related to selling spots on the ucla team.

Anson on the hot seat!? Blowing a 2-0 lead?
jk ofcourse but not the best ending to retire after. He actually did a good job this year…imho

I think the consensus was that some jobs are extremely difficult to lose at. Winning a Natty should be commended, but let’s not go crazy, even though I do love Prince. UCLA is one of those jobs. I’ll be interested to see how they fare in the Big10 with all that travel. But this year, congrats to them. Great comeback! (Although I think the ref missed an easy foul call on the tying goal).

Blew a 2g lead at home 2x and nearly blew a 3g lead vs FSU. The lack of control his team has is a testament to their inability to keep possession at critical times.

I do think a chimpanzee could still win a lot of games at UCLA. But been eating my humble pie since they made the final four. Congratulations to UCLA and their coach.

Yeah... they were. I remember it a year ago. I can't remember exactly who the names were on here but they know who they were. They really thought that was going to be a bust.

Nobody mocked the UCLA hire or said she would be a bust. Indeed, given that southern California produces more quality youth/college soccer players than any region in the country, you'd have to be a bad coach to not do well at that school. There was considerable surprise that an experienced head wasn't hired--but it's a program that naturally attracts a lot of talent. And keep in mind that the new coach didn't recruit the players that won this natty.

Enter the only other person besides Kanye West that went from potential candidate for the USWNT nat'l coach to unemployed and a failed career after quitting UCLA because she lost to UC Irvine last year in the NCAA tourney. Then she was fired from NWSL and being accused of abuse. Let's hold an applause for Amanda Cromwell. Her kids won the natty, but under another coach.

SuperSoccer1978: If that is true this could go down as one of the worst hires. Huge relief to all the PAC 12 team, because UCLA will be worse than the days of BJ Snow.

Nutmeg13: Absolutely ridiculous. From my knowledge the UCLA AD was pushing for a female coach. At least hire a female head coach and not assistant! Hopefully they have a male coach on staff, I know the all-female coaching staff was not liked.

SoccerTrustee: If this UCLA decision is true that’s a terrible hire. That’s one of the top five jobs in women’s college soccer. Made sense when they hired someone of Cromwell’s experience last hiring cycle. They should have been able to get a big name with substantial head coaching experience that will excite recruits this time around. The fact that I didn’t know who she is and people have to Google her to learn about her says it all. If this is true (will wait to believe it when I actually see it) then the UCLA administration fell largely flat on this one.

Socr4evaH: I have not watched the Stanford assistant coach at the college level but I have watched her club practices. Unimpressive to say the least. I was shocked she was hired at Stanford and I will be completely flabbergasted if she is the new UCLA hire.

Collegewhispers: UCLA have just gone the Arizona route and gone with a female regardless of experience. The only people this hurts are the athletes who get a coach who isn’t ready and they get a less competitive program.

Cantcoach: Really?? They couldn’t do any better? This isn’t as bad as the Arizona hire but still how does UCLA not get a head coach with a proven track record?

[NOTE: Collegewhispers admits to be eating humble pie .]

Still hard to win a national championship, maybe even harder with not the kids you recruited. They didn't choose to play for her so she had to earn their confidence. Yes now it's about finding the right talent which is also a hard part of the job. That being said, sometimes the first year is the easiest because everyone's hope to earn playing time is renewed. Believe it or not, I'm sure there were still unhappy kids in the locker room after the game because they didn't play. Handling those issues over the long haul is the hardest part of coaching.

Who was the Head Coach of USC in 2007 when they won the National Championship? How long had he been there?
