Kobel Wolf--Hummels--Schlotterbeck--Guerreiro Brandt----Dahoud---Bellingham---Bynoe-Gittens Reus--Modeste Switch out Modeste for Moukoko and Bellingham for Ozcan and that's the team I would have chosen. Hands off to Terzic making good chances and so quickly.
Terzic tries out something else and rewards Wolf, Brandt and Gittens with the starting position. I'd also like to see what Özcan can offer.
Brandt scores the 1:0 just before the half. Don't know whether it had to do with the early Dahoud sub but we lost control after a decent start. Too many easy mistakes by us and an inability to keep the ball after around 20 minutes. Bremen had the better chances but Kobel showed his importance again. Bremen relies on getting dead balls and this ref plays right into their gameplan. As for Gittens, everything he does is exciting but while his success rate in other games was like 50%, in this game it's more like 25%. It makes him a turnover machine but his quality is obvious.
Guerreiro 2:0. We don't play well at all and struggle against this Bremen but at least the goals are really nice.
2:1 and we have to hope that Schlotterbeck is ok. Looks like he twisted his ankle and no more subs possible.
2:3, 2 goals in injury time. That's what you get when you play like crap and waste the other few good chances you had. Bellingham lost the ball twice in 5 seconds, once won back by Guerreiro, for no good reason before the 2:3 and looked way too passive for the 2:1. If he's too tired, he should have gotten subbed. You can end the game with a tired striker but his position is too important to allow that. Can also didn't make a case for himself. I don't know enough about Özcan but everything I heard is that he's the fighter type that could have helped in this game. Bremen combined around us without any midfield opposition like they were the CL team. Another thing I noticed, we get too many stupid yellows. Today, I didn't see any hunger in the team. We didn't deserve to win and only scored due to two brilliant individual actions. Not much else was going on for us. For the most part it was embarrassing how we played.
And that concludes our push for the BL title this season... Congrats, Bayern, we are no contenders again this year!! Don't tell me it's a long season when we can't even see out a 2 goals lead at the 89th minutes vs a team that was a BL2 team last year!! We are the laughing stock once again!!
The team was never good enough. However, its disappointing to throw the league in such a way. We need Dahoud to control the match and we need a DM, but we also need composure. I am tired of buying players to sell. Let's actually try and win things.
For who? This is a poor quality squad. In many past seasons it would struggle to make top 4 and I would consider making top 4 a great achievement. This season due to the lack of quality of other teams we should make it.
The club cannot sell Meunier if Wolf is the alternative, defensively he is nowhere near good enough. Can has become pretty terrible in recent times, as has Hazard. Apparently Dahoud’s injury is not serious though which is a plus.
It feels we've been in rebuild for 5+ years now and anytime we seem to have something good going we sell the important pieces... The worse is those same pieces seem to not work anywhere else afterwards!! (With some exceptions...) I'm ok with a rebuild, but I'm not quite on board if we are just looking for talent we can resell for profit again while never competing...
I learned to take it easy after reading a tweet from Mexican sports journalist Marion Reimers: Saying "we won" after watching a game is like saying "we fvcked" after watching porn. That quote really put things in perspective for me.
That's hilarious... only because its soo true. I realised a long time ago that the football world is just a commercial tilt $ chasing conglomerates. At the end of the day, these players get paid millions of dollars to kick a football, its not like they are contributing to society in any meaningful way, and with the influx of the nouveau riche, using football clubs as their play things, I'm of the stance thaT I will never buy a football jersey, nor buy a football ticket, nor ever pay to watch a football stream. Call it an act of rebellion, but the idea of divesting your life from the football team u 'support', comes with caveats. And if one of these idiot sheiks, or Russian oligarchs ever buys a club I support, that's the end of the line for me. Its a good thing Germany has a 50+1 rule... I'm not in the recycling business... #plastic.
