While I appreciate the foresight to look for a replacement GK in the future (heck, it should be something the team looks at for all positions), I'd much rather a future GK signing be someone who won't be tying up an international roster slot on the bench. There's PLENTY of domestic talent for the GK position. Having an international roster slot tied up on a keeper - and potentially an understudy at that while Yarbrough finishes his time here - seems like a waste of resources. Especially when you consider how much TAM and GAM the team has, and how many other needs we have across the field. Just my opinion though.
According to the Football reporter for The Daily Telegraph, The Rapids have signed Wolves midfielder Connor Ronan to a "long-term deal": #Wolves have agreed deal for Connor Ronan to join Colorado Rapids as a permanent signing. Midfielder signs a long-term contract with the #MLS side #Rapids96— Mike McGrath (@mcgrathmike) January 18, 2023 He's 24 years old, plays for Ireland internationally. He's been owned by Wolves since 2016, but has been loaned out 6 times. Most successfully to St. Mirren, where he made 27 appearances and scored 7 goals. Before that, he made 30 appearances with Grasshoppers, which is in the Swiss League. Best case scenario, based on my quick gloss of his profile? A younger Jack Price. Which ain't bad. But also ain't gonna turn heads. Of course, I say this having never seen him play, I'm just some jerk who looked at his Wikipedia page ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Probably means that the reporter in Wolverhampton jumped the gun and the i's aren't dotted and the t's aren't crossed yet.
The #Rapids96 could be getting a good one. Connor Ronan scored seven goals for Scottish Premier League side St. Mirren in the 2021-22 season, which helped him earn a first call-up to the Republic of Ireland national team. https://t.co/6ve3phtZiy— Brendan Ploen (@BrendanPloen) January 18, 2023
That was my first thought as well.. But then I got to thinking how dramatically different we looked in Midfield after losing Bassett, K. Acosta, and Kaye to loans/transfers - and how very, very thin we were when Price was out with injury. While I don't think midfield was our biggest, and greatest need on the field - it definitely turned into a major point of concern last year when guys were playing below their 'capabilities', or were out injured.

This is one of my biggest concerns. With apparently no LB on the roster does Galván being left footed and having some experience become the only candidate to start at LB/LWB? I feel he is more valuable to the team's attack when he plays higher up the pitch and with less defensive responsibilities.
Nice pool boys - enjoy that!! Great stuff Mike, thanks to you & Diego. One thing about @DiegoRubio_ that many don't see is what a positive veteran presence he is on this team. You saw brief clips, and he talked about it, but he's a solid coach and communicator esp. w/youngsters! https://t.co/6VxeM9SGOL— MLSfrom5280....yes, THAT one. (@MLSfrom5280) January 18, 2023
Um, yeah ... Connor Ronan can definitely score from downtown. Looks like he's got a helluva leg based on these highlights.https://t.co/jvk0bfeezC— Brendan Ploen (@BrendanPloen) January 18, 2023

Tres equipos de la MLS estarían interesados en Diego Lainez… Dallas FC, Houston Dynamo y Colorado RapidsAparentemente los tres equipos no tendrían problema en cubrir el salario que América se negó a pagar… @FOXSportsMX— Fernando Cevallos (@FerCevallosF) January 18, 2023 Diego Lainez to the Rapids? A winger who can’t score but is speedy. Yay! He’s a decent player and a move to MLS might be the right move. He’s been the a bit of a disappointment at Real Betis and Braga (on loan). Edit…. I guess not. Darn. A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to me that there is no truth to this from the #Rapids96 side. https://t.co/EyUZqhAfnw— Brendan Ploen (@BrendanPloen) January 19, 2023
I'm hearing there's legitimacy to this report on Patrick Pentz and that Colorado Rapids are targeting at least one other European-based goalkeeper. Nothing close to being done though. More details and my reaction coming @Burgundywave. https://t.co/g4JWctJ4w1— Matt Pollard (@LWOSMattPollard) January 18, 2023 https://www.burgundywave.com/2023/1...alkeepers-january-patrick-pentz-francis-uzoho Why? Seems stupid to waste an international spot on a GK when you have Yarbrough. Unless you are planning to trade Yarbrough. Even so… I’m not usually keen to using that international spots on GK’s when there is quality you find within the league.

I used to catch a game or two of the Danish SuperLiga when ESPN+ carried the league, If Maxso is the dude I’m thinking of, he’s a fantastic player. He sprayed the ball all over the pitch from his CB spot. Brondby had two tall, lanky CB’s that could play out of the back. I think the other guy was Norwegian or Swedish. Nonetheless, if Maxso is that guy….. he may have found a good one. I’m sure he’s going to cost $2-3M, right?
