Hearing Andreas Maxsø has a €2 mill buy out clause. His contract expires this summer. Colorado Rapids will likely pay less, could be €1 mill or less.Ronan, Pentz and Maxsø combined reported fees could be $2-2.5 mill. Fans can clearly see FO using the UC Health/Apple TV money.— Matt Pollard (@LWOSMattPollard) January 26, 2023
Why has there been this trend over the past couple of weeks of some people giving the club credit for guys they haven't actually signed? We've literally only acquired one player in the window so far (4 weeks in), and we have a GM with a well-earned a reputation for being bad at closing deals. Is it simply because we're actually getting rumors now (as opposed to none), and by extension people think that means we're being more active in the transfer market? I don't actually believe they're pursuing guys any harder this time around compared to before. I think the real difference is more info (or disinfo) is getting leaked out to the public to try and deflect the warranted criticism for how bad they've been with player acquisitions. You only get credit for the guys you actually sign.
I think they were all in on Esteves and they were surprised at how he cratered at the end of last season. I've heard one rumor that things were even worse than we saw on game day.
Hearing it's for this window. He's been a good soldier for Brøndby. Club's willing to do him a solid and not stand in the way. He'd walk in the summer anyway. Get something now and reinvest to avoid relegation.— Matt Pollard (@LWOSMattPollard) January 26, 2023
Everybody is always trying to sign a forward who can score. Both my clubs in England (Everton & Southampton) are trying to sign forwards. Demand far exceeds supply.

I would agree it's not easy but the rest of the MLS teams have no problems signing proven goal scorers.
It's not that they haven't been going after good forwards. It's that they haven't really been going after forwards at all.
"According to kicker information, Bayer Leverkusen are making intensive efforts to recruit goalkeeper Patrick Pentz from Stade Reims due to an injury to substitute keeper Andrey Lunev. Pentz was about to be signed in the USA." https://t.co/4mMakmTzRf— Joseph Samelson (@jspsam) January 26, 2023
Does anyone with a functioning brain actually think paying a transfer fee and using an international slot on a goalkeeper is a good use of the team's limited resources? I honestly can't say I'd be disappointed if this fell through.

On paper, Maxsø is easily best signing the club has had in several years, and honestly the only new acquisition this off-season I'm excited about. Good signing.
