Just a thread for comments about the playoff games. Minute 66 and RSL hanging on for dear life. Outshot about 100-0 but still nil-nil. Edit: Actually 11-0 on shots. I sometimes exaggerate.
It's the tenacity of the RSL defending that is keeping them in this game. Their D is sharp tonight. Don't know how much gas it has left tho.
We have never, ever defended like RSL is doing tonight. Lodeiro about to come in, because, well, because they need him in there. LOL
Had this been Galaxy v Seatle you know we would be back at the hotel packing after the loss. RSL just showing tons or will and grit. They wore Morris out, he is coming out. LOL
First time ever Seattle gets eliminated first round. Add to that at home and against the 7th place team and man, that gotta sting a little bit. Salt Lake had zero shots on goal but they defended with their lives! RSL going back to Kansa City. Kansas City here I come... Oh yeah and Nashville took care of business at home against Orlando.
Very surprising stat: COL won the WC with the 2nd best record in MLS. So they must have a good striker right? Their leading goal scorer must have what, 15 goals? 16? 20? Nope - he is Michael Barrios with a measly 8 goals. In 33 games no less. Amazing what a defense can do.
Crapids crap out. That's one that's gonna sting also. I feel bad for Fraser. Last minute goal. These matches should be home and away. While I am happy Seattle got eliminated I do see the sense in allowing for the good teams a chance to come back and continue their run even if its the damned Sounders. Portland moves ahead but with Blanco possibly out the playoffs with whatever happened to his quad and stupid Asprilla losing his mind and slapping a dude out and getting himeslf red carded I don't know how good their chances are going forward.
In the replay it looked like Asprilla was reaching around to try to punch the ball out of the players hand after the COL player had shoved him in the back, hit him twice more and then grabbed the ball away from him. COL player then sold the contact like he had been hit by Ali. Asp shouldn’t have risked it but it wasn’t malicious. Ref should have recognized the provocation, the intensity of the moment, the lack of ill intent and the severe effect of a red on both the player and very possibly the team’s whole season. Just look at replay and give a yellow. VAR ref also to blame for the insta confirm. Just my opinion.
I think Colorado missed having a quality striker in that game. The West is set up for KC to make the finals.
Maybe, but COL had no trouble winning all season long. Lot of randomness to single elimination playoffs.
