if it takes players off the allocated player draft when new teams enter the league, it will come pretty soon.
Per The Norway thread, it is now confirmed that Katie Stengel has been signed by Vålerenga, the reigning champions of Norway, who are currently leading the league after two wins (by 5-3 and 4-0) in two games in the new 2021 season.
My jersey curse continues: Reign trade Spencer to Dash This time i didn't even get to wear the jersey to a single game.

Rumor: Nadim could be returning Stateside Various sources have indicated that Nadia Nadim's next stop could be Racing Louisville. It does not appear a deal is done and Nadim is on the free market after leaving French champs PSG#NWSL— Dan Lauletta (@TheDanLauletta) June 7, 2021 Racing need midfielders, though, not another forward.
We are excited to announce the signing of defender Alana Cook to the OL Reign roster. Welcome @_alana_cook! Read more: https://t.co/kr8Ui6Vu76 pic.twitter.com/0W6joMh0bs— Seattle Reign FC (@reignfc) June 7, 2021
I saw several people on Twitter suggesting that she was obtained to fill Lloyd's role while Lloyd is out for the Olympics.
Here's a name most people haven't seen for a while if not looking Down Under: Kendall Fletcher has signed with the Courage. (One of the few old Athletica players still going, along with Harris.)
Not a player move, but we don't have a coach's thread. This should be worth some discussion: Farid Benstiti has resigned as head coach of OL Reign, effective immediately. Assistant coach Sam Laity, who has been with the club since its inaugural season in 2013, will serve as interim head coach until a permanent replacement is named.Details: https://t.co/zHOxKspfUO pic.twitter.com/QpC69Hen5m— Seattle Reign FC (@reignfc) July 2, 2021
Honestly I always thought his hire was a bit of a head-scratcher in the first place... But considering the competitiveness of NWSL and the relatively short time he's had with such a strong roster, I don't think his record justified him stepping away. Maybe he just didn't feel like he jelled with NWSL's style?
Probably, but you think he would adapt to the NWSL environment in the long run even if new to it. Or getting destroyed in the last game 0-3 even with such good players is telling us that he fooked up along with losing record! This isn't like 1 or 2 teams with Lyon and PSG dominating and scoring 7-0 or 10-0. Even Portland and NC loses against what was lower tier teams. And Kansas the last place team just haven't been able to score so its usually ties or 1 or 2 goal losses. So they are not someone you can easily overwhelm.
Yes it was!!!! I tried to keep an open mind but he never gave me even the slightest glimmer of hope. Good riddance.
Reign arguably had the strongest team on ‘paper’ in the league, but unfortunately the continues coming & going of it’s stars isn’t going to provide stability or chemistry needed for the long haul of the season. It has probably rhe biggest roster of any of the NWSL clubs, but rotating while jelling on the field can be an delicate thing
Qualified, sure, but that was about the only thing that made sense. Lyon tapping a PSG guy was weird to start with; His style didn't seem like one that would work in NWSL; There were several stories of him not cultivating a friendly team environment at PSG; Just a lot of little (or not so little) things that didn't feel like they lined up
Lavelle’s only played 2 games so far, LeSommer’s stats & playing time been way down for the last couple of years at Lyon. Just reading from the German forums you know how much we feel that Marozsan is way, way overrated. How many saves a game do you think Bouhaddi makes (when all French League bunkers vs Lyon). Despite an Vlatko favorite, Cook was mostly on the bench at PSG. Fishlock couldn’t even make the GB squad. So what could of been an potential superstar team, pretty much reduced
In all fairness to Le Sommer she has had injury issues to deal with, but what is significant her role as a forward has diminished considerably for Lyon. Seen her more in the midfield this season for them. While Marozsan has played all 28 games, starting 27 of those games, for Lyon, I do expect her role and playing time to change next season, in order to make room for Macario as the CAM. That is assuming that Ada Hegerberg will be fully recovered and ready to play. Plus they have signed additional midfielders as well. With regards to Bouhaddi, the signing of Endler pretty much tells you that Bouhaddi is not going to return to any starting role when she returns to Lyon.
